Hey JKU guys!

A buddy is getting hung up on the stock cross member. What are you all using for belly skids? Oil pan protection? What brands/styles are good and what should brands/styles should be avoided?

Thank you.

This, with an Artec cross-member.

I have the EVO manufacturing skid system and like it. I don't believe it's as nice as the Rock Hard stuff, but a lot less expensive and looks to offer decent protection. I have the 3 piece kit... oil pan, trans and crossmember and have been happy with it. I am not a hard core rockcrawler and my JKU is mainly a DD.

M.O.R.E: https://www.mountainoffroad.com/jee...l-pan-transmission-case-skid-plate-07-jk.html

It works and additionally gives you drains/vents under the exhaust crossover, which are necessary to prevent debris buildup.

To that skid I also added 3 of the Rockhard bolt head protectors to the 3 bolts that mount the M.O.R.E skid to the crossmember. You need these otherwise you will shear the bolt heads off (really necessary for any skid): Rock Hard 4x4™ "Rock Dome" Tapered Bolt Head Protector for Skid Plate Systems - Large [RH-6000-SW-496]

And since you are going to be under there, replace the stock crossmember as it is super weak. If you leave the stock one it will ultimately bent and dent and potentially damage your belly skid because of it. I use the Poison Spyder as it closely matches the OEM bolt hole, drain, and access pattern, and is incredibly strong: JK Extreme Duty Trans-Mount Crossmember '12+ | Jeep Wrangler JK Undercarriage Armor | Poison Spyder Customs

Then to round it out I cover the exhaust loop with the Skid Row exhaust plate, which also has drain holes and is vented better than some of the other options out there: Curly Exhaust Guard - for Jeep JK Wrangler - Skid Row Offroad

aluminum plates are good , depending on what kind of wheeling you do.Climbing rocks I prefer steel.
