I would like to go doorless on some camping trips and other long weekend excursions this summer (I will have the soft top on) but I need something to cover the doors overnight/in case of rain etc. Does anyone know of any good products that would work? My only real requirement is that it cover all 4 doors and keep the rain out. Preferably something that is not too bulky either and doesn't take up too much room in the Jeep when packed up.
One cover I'm looking at now is this: JK Unlimited Jeep Cover
does anyone own one of these and have any reviews on it? Thanks.
Mike has the raingear cover for when topless and we couldn't be happier with it. It fits like a glove. The panels it has for the mirrors for doors on/off are great!
We have a bunch of different Cab Covers and Emergency Covers on the site. I run one of the Bestop covers and it's worked great for me. It stays completely dry inside. I use it when I park overnight with the top down to keep the dew off the dash and seats.
Let me know if you see anything you like and I'll get you set up with a quote!
I took the uppers off for the weekend camping trip and even though I knew it wasn't going to rain it gave me a good opportunity to practice installing /uninstalling the RainGear! Plus if kept all the ash and tree stuff out of the Jeep!
For those with the Rain Gear Trail Cover (Soft or Hard Top OFF version)
1) does the cover re-stuff/store in storage bag easily?
2) roughly how big is the cover in the bag?
3) How do they fit with door mirrors in place?
I have a Rugged Ridge cover and the thing is way bulky, and is a PIA to store in the bag. And most importantly, does not fit well over mirrors. I run with top off and tube doors with factory mirrors on the tube doors. So I am looking for emergency protection that fits/compatible with mirrors installed in factory location.
The cover does take a few minutes to fold up and put back in the back. The good thing is, taking that time when you fold it up means that it will be that much faster to put back on the next time you need it.
I've never measured it, but I think the bag is about 24"x18".
The mirror system on the cover is the bomb! Works great, with or without doors. I looked for my own pictures, but I couldn't find them. Here is an old post that has a couple of pictures and you can kinda see how the mirror flaps work:
RAINGEAR Hardtop Off Version. This thing is great. After the first use I folded it inside out and rolled it up pretty tight so it would be easier to install the next time. Fit back in the storage bag easily with lots of room to spare.
Water will leak through if allowed to pool. I have the top on or off option. First time installing it without the soft top up, water pooled and leaked inside.
I have the rugged ridge trail cover and it's not waterproof. Eventually the water will slowly leak thru!
