best JK 2.5" lift

Hi all,

looking for your advice on 2.5" lifts for a 2008 JK Unlimited. Specifically, what your experience is in terms of true lift height. I heard that some 2.5" lifts are closer to 2" after install, while others are pushing 3".

after reading the forums, I'm particularly interested in the following:

- Rock Krawler
- TeraFlex
- AEV JK Dualsport

...always with Bilstein 5100 shocks.

your thoughts would be much appreciated!

I think all three you have mentioned are great lifts. I'm about to order a TF 2.5" spring lift with shock adapters for my '14 JKUR. After my research, I think this lift is the best bang for my buck. I'm also ordering the Rancho geometry correction bracket.

I do.

The teraflex 2dr 2.5 coil kit will net you 3.1" in the front and 2.1" in the rear on a 2dr. Teraflex makes 2dr and 4dr specific kits so you can always opt for one or the other regardless of your jeep to get the height you want. I loved the one I ran on my old 2010 JK and just ordered another but with Bilstein 5100s this go round for the new 2013. Rock Krawler kits will give you more height, may or may not be what you want. Something to consider. AEV is more of a street lift than a wheeling lift but that's just the word on the interwebs. You can wheel the teraflex and rock krawler kits till your hearts content. Or...until something breaks.

I have the teraflex 2.5 + 5100's + Rock Krawler lowers + JKS quick disco's and its great. Flexes great, rides great, and gave the jeep the advertised lift.

BTW, did you check out the lift video in the sticky? That's probably the best lift video I have found on the net.

If I was in the market again I would get the RK 2.5" Max Travel or X Factor. I would also go Teraflex over AEV.

Perfect, thank you all for your comments. Given that the RK will give me a bit more height, this is my number one choice now - followed by TeraFlex.

2.5 x-factor here.

Just kicked it up a notch to coil-overs.

Mean as hell.

RK did the install just about a year after I did the 2.5 x-factor.

The first pic is just the 2.5 x-factor sitting on the 315 duratracs.

The second is the same lift with coil overs, Nemesis Industries flares, Weld Racing wheels, BFG Km2s (37s)

probably dumb question, but what are coil overs?

how happy are you with the BFGs?

I LOVE the KM2.

People said it was loud, it's not.

I can barely tell they arent the "polite" duratrac.

I aslo had to jam the breaks recently and they stopped far better than expected.

It was really one of those OH &$*#^ moments. I looked away to tune the radio or something, and traffic stopped. I really had to jam the brakes. The KM2s bit the pavement. Great tires.

I also love the KM2s and have had 2 sets. Great tires, and I'm surprised so many people are scared about running them in rain and snow. I never had an issue. Personally I don't understand the fascination with the Duratracs. I was considering them until I saw a set of 35's on a Sahara and to me they reminded me of automotive snow tires...

I prefer the KM2s as well (on my 3rd set) but I had a set of DTs and they were a bit quieter and tougher (puncture resistant). The DT's also don't feel like like knobbies when you pump up the pressure.

Eventually (hopefully within a few months) I plan on running the RK 2.5" Max Travel with Fox Shox. JEEPDON has this set up if I'm not mistaken, or something similar. If you're really into wheeling I think the set up is perfect. From what I have read, again, from JEEPDON' post's, that set up put him 4.5" over factory, keep in mind this is on a 2 door.

I'm running Rk 2.5's which have my jeep at 3.5"
Remember, the higher you go the more is needed. Ie. track bars/control arms/driveshaft(s) and possibly Highsteer.
Also ran the Fox 2.0's but found a set of Rancho 7000's new real cheap and wanted to try them. Honestly did not want to worry about rebuilding/ruining a res shock so I kept the 7000's and sold the Fox. Love the 7000, best shock so far I've tried. HATED the ride of the 5100 on my lightweight 2 door.

Good to know about the 5100 as I had also considered those. I'm going to do some more research on the Rancho's.
