Of all the new products I've read about at SEMA, this is one I'm really stoked about. So much so, I may forgo looking for a soft top next year and just go with this for the summer months. I like the freedom panels, but they've always kind of been a hassle to deal with and this new sunrider from Bestop would be the ticket for that time when you want to quickly open the top.
I like the idea but cringe at the thought of leaving the soft top back on my painted hard top. I would think it would scuff and scratch the painted top with it rubbing from road movement and the wind pushing it around.
That's a good idea. Someone needs to create the custom cutout for that area. I am not a fan of cutting the film while applying on the Jeep. Give me a custom cutout and I can do it myself.
exactly. The trektop pro hybrid is a fine example of best of both worlds but not in my budget... unless someone wants to buy my insulated hardtop. hint hint*
Any more news on this?? I'm trying to decide if I can sell my premium soft top and just get one of these. I really like this idea because you can just take this off for long trips for a more quiet ride and reinstall and store your freedom panels when you want open air on the trail.
@DallasJKU ... nothing yet. just the teaser shots. Once it gets closer to spring, then they will have more info. I can already see that you want one as much as I do lol.
I'm intrigued. I like to change tops often and this is what I like about Jeeps. I ran a soft top last year and now I'm liking the hardtop. If this is a decent price then I will sell my premium soft top and buy a cheap vinyl one for spring and summer. I plan on selling my premium top on Monday mainly because I hate the color contrast and don't like how high it sits when down. Plus I love how the Jeep looks with HT. This would be great for the fall and winter days that are close to 80 in Dallas. Just adds more flexibility to Jeeps. If this works well, I would like to Line X my hardtop so scratches are no longer a concern and get the twill material in this top.
@DallasJKU ... I had a soft top on my last jeep and hated the access to the cargo area. Now that I have a hard top, I hate removing the freedom panels. They both have their cons, but with this product, it will add more convenience for us hard top owners. Hopefully the price will be friendly.
That's a good idea. Just get a vinyl shop to put a strip of body matched or clear vinyl where it touches the top. And if you want to go real cheap a can of plasti dip in the closest colour and mask and paint a strip on. Easy touch up and removal.
Omg I want this!!! It's perfect for my needs and wants. We can have all for seasons in one day here in Canada . So a soft top is not practical for me, and the hard top is a pain when you have no where to store but the back yard. Freedom panels are nice to remove but time consuming if you just want the top open for an hour or two cause it might rain. This solves all that, I can keep my hardtop on and have an easy quick open front and in the winter will take 10-15 minutes to switch it all back.
I have been watching this for a month now and can't find anymore information anywhere...Hoping to see it posted here first...I love the hardtop, but the freedom panels get annoying...perfect solution.
Perfect reason for this type of product today. 75* today and 75* tomorrow. I won't be taking the freedom panels off because they are a pain and I don't want to scratch them. Bestop needs to hurry and bring this to market.
