Bestop HOSS 42804 hard top holder for TJ works with 2013 JKU

I bought a bestop HOSS 42804 hard top holder from Amazon for about $168. It is holding my 2013 JKU hard top just fine.

If you use this holder you must add padding on the back piece as the JKU sits "inside" rather than on top. What Bestop uses is pipe insulator like at Home Depot, I recommend same but didn't have any handy while removing top.

In the pics where I have brown rubber pads recommend you install the pipe insulators.

I used the tie-down straps for my own comfort and piece of mind while wheeling this thing around the garage, probably not necessary but why chance it.

I store the t-tops inside the top.

How did you put the cart on the back of the hardtop ? Did you lift the top off and then place it on the cart ? Or did you attach the cart prior to removal ?

BTW I have a 2013 Sahara, Hardtop and soft top....your post is making me feel much better because I bought the same cart for $168 this Janaury from Quadratec.....any advice you have removing the hardtop I am all ears !!!

Just an FYI when you remove this be careful not to scratch the corners of your hard top. I use this on my 2013 and scratched both sides of my hard top. I need to cover where the rear window "locks" as to not scratch anymore.

When I installed it I kind of scooted the hard top back a little while it is still resting on the Jeep and hooked it all up. Walked back and slowly rotated to the wheels down.

Thanks for the suggestions....it worked like a charm....my fiance...helped me what we did was take the top completely off and put it on a blanket so we didnt scratch the hartop...then I lifted the hardtop and we put the cart on it and then slowly leaned the top up on the cart....worked perfect and I also put the t tops in the roof once I was finished...it was easier than I thought.

Yep they do. But for me I got a white hot deal on one for a TJ, gave it a shot and it works. Just need to pad the base where the rear of the hard top rests.
