Bestop Safari Top flapping in the wind.

I put the Safari top on my 12JK 2dr and anything above 40 mph starts if flapping in the wind. Then the straps come loose!

Has anyone come up with any way of keeping the top snug so it doesn't flap?

Love the look and openess of the Safari top but the flapping is annoying!!
Thanks for any suggestions.
Jim

I saw a post in the cheap and easy mods thread where a guy made a brace out of some pvc pipe and pvc "T"'s. I'll have to see if I can find it. He made it so it bowed out towards the top and held it snug in place. Says it works great.

Can't find the original post but here's a pic of it with info on what's needed to build:

And a JK Writeup on it:

Hope this helps

I should mention that I haven't built either of these and the info was taken from other people. Just thought it would be good to pass along. I'll more than likely be building one of these myself when I order my safari top.

Funny, I just installed the exact top on a 2012 2 door and thought the same thing! I was going to post the same question till I saw your post.
Where you able to install it with the door surrounds on or did you have to remove them? I couldn't get the velcro to wrap around the side bars with the plastic pieces on! Oh well I too like the open feel but that loud flapping can be a bit much.

Not sure if the Safari top is the same as the Safari top from the Trektop NX but this is what I did with it. I bought a 4' 1/2" galvanized pipe at Lowes and two end caps. Pulled out the thin aluminum bar and put in the pipe and it stopped the flapping in it's tracks. Can even drive at highway speeds with the sunrider open.

Thanks for the info and welcome both to the forum!

I have the hardtop so no door surrounds to deal with. ANd I have RR half doors.
So, I did run a piece of pvc (painted black) along the roll bar above the door to make the top flatter and to fill the space for the velcro. That worked for me with the way mine is set up.

Now to work on the flapping.
Thanks again

Thanks for the idea and the pictures! The Bestop Safari top does not have any slots on the end as it is but I do think I can come up with something like that. I do appreciate knowing that a brace will work.

I'll post pictures and results.
Thanks
