Bestop Trektop questions

Hello! I trust everyone is doing well?

I'm stopping in as I purchased the bestop trektop last fall. While I ran it happily for a little over a month before putting the stock soft top back on for the winter.

What I would like to know now is if it would be possible to purchase a new headerbar that attaches with the clamps similar to the stock top rather than the screws?

Also I notice a lot of discussion about the tensioning straps to help pull the top tighter. was a version made without the tensioning straps in the beginning and I ended up getting that version late last fall? I do also have the steel rod that slides into the sleeve in the top...would it be possible to fashion my own sort of velcro or tension strap to help?

Just my thoughts for the day....

I don't have any first hand experience with this top but from what i read, I'm not sure if you can get a new windshield channel for the existing top. I agree with you that the hand screws are a PITA, and I much prefer the clamps on the factory top. There is however the new Trektop NX coming out in March I believe that incorporates the factory style header clamps. Not sure if that header channel is compatible with the current Trektop, but maybe something to look into.

So it's been, and shall be weighed: though many are born, few are "made". Faithful Always, they shall remain, dogs to loose when war is waged.

The factory style header is more convenient, no doubt. And while we are finally able to start selling a version of that in our aftermarket tops, they will not be compatible. The factory-style header attaches to the fabric with a bunch of little screws, and is a totally different design for the fabric and the header itself.

Our current JK header did use clamps, but we changed, due to complaints about tightness. You can call 800-845-3567 to see if our support team has a retrofit. I think they were doing it the other way round for a bit, sending out knobs to people who had clamps.
