Looks familiar...same revolver I store in my Tuffy...but the Plus model.

Edit: damn..just realized that was my previously posted picture you lifted Bill! I knew it looked familiar.

same here....I've been driving around with mine since last March....no rattles...no noise whatsoever...even with stuff inside.

Mine is completely covered by my seat since I have it almost all the way forward so I can reach the pedals.....

I got the wife one for her JKU for Christmas. Installation was simple. So far there has been no rattles what so ever out of it. Holds a Glock 19 and a S&W .38 very easily.

Yeap! I stole your Tuffy photo to compare with my Bestop with a similar revolver (6-shot vs. 7-shot, otherwise same) to show an accurate comparison.

I'd have given you credit if I had remembered where I got it!

But, a belated thanks for the photo

Following up on the rattle issue noted by some folks, like Daggo and others who've posted here, I can't here a sound out of my Bestop box. I paid close attention last night and today on my commute on account of what was said here--nothin'. Given it's only been installed for a few days, but so far it's doing great.

Can't imagine it's gonna get much looser...really, how much stress is applied to it? I think your frugality paid off.

Unless I've read it wrong, I think the people with the noise issue are locking the door when empty. That means they are leaving it open. The way the box is designed, there is no way to close it and remove the key with the door unlocked. Therefore my drawer is always closed and locked. Could that be the issue?

Could be. Wouldn't the drawer slide open during hard stops though?

I also wonder whether some folks are installing it by putting both tabs under the seat supports. That would put it at an angle that could be causing a subtle left-to-right shift over bumps and the like, and change the way gravity pulls on the roller hinges.

It also may be that some of the sticky tabs fall off over time or aren't in the right spot.

Looking at the design though, I almost can't believe I couldn't fix a rattle if I put my mind to it, unless it was within the lock mechanism itself. Beyond that, there's just not much to the design of the box. Might end up eating those words someday though . . . .

Had mine in since about mid-September. No rattles. No complaints.

Did change out the lock/key for a combination unit. That was a fun install.

And it takes a bit to see let alone reach position to SEE the #s given my geezer parts...but still prefer it to the extra key issue.

Anyone heard of one that will fit the 2012 JK? or a different solution? The seat has a bar across the bottom that won't allow this to be installed. This is because of the tilt seat.

I thought somebody figured out a solution to that? Isn't it the same issue in the 2011s?

Some kind of bracket or something . . . maybe just removed the bar? I can't recall.

That will not fit in the Bestop box.

Edit, you need to remove a small wiring bracket in the '12 JKU to get the box to fit, easy.

You need to unscrew the bracket holding the seat electrical connections, then zip-tie the electrical cables to the underside of the seat, off to the side. Bracket stays off. Best bet is to snip the little plastic push screws that hold the bracket and cable connections together with wire cutters...it's kind've a pain trying to pry them loose without any decent leverage.

You'll see what I mean when you do it.

Sorry budphoto...missed your last sentence first time around. Since the JK's front seat has the slide/tilt feature, they don't make em for the JK (at least Tuffy and Bestop don't...maybe there's something else out there).

The bracket removal thing I posted above is for 4-doors.

Heel Yeah! I have a spring gun pointed at the driver window in case someone tries to 'jack me. It shoots automatically when the window goes down. I used to have a crossbow lying on the backseat but my kid jumped out at an intersection and ran off with it. I knew I should have buckled that rascal in.

It would be stupid and dangerous to roll any window down if someone tries to "jack you". I will waste em right through the glass. Glass is cheap! My life isn't. And I carry a arsenal to do it with. Just ask daggo. He ought to see what my wife packs!

I have the Kimber Crimson Carry. Love it. Can't imagine carrying a SW500 and firing from the inside of the Jeep. I keep a FN 5.7 with two 30 round clips in my big truck.
