Besttop Trektop NX

Hello everyone, My 2012 JK has only a hardtop. I didn't have the money for the soft/hard to be included. Of course now I am wishing I had saved some extra cash since I need a soft top and don't have the hardware. I have been looking at this Trektop NX on quadratech. Bestop 56822-35 - Bestop® Trektop NX in Black Diamond for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler JK 2 Door - Quadratec The price isnt too bad but I have read some mixed reviews on it. Could a few people here, who own or have owned them, please tell me if they are worth it? I know I could probably find a used soft top with hardware on Ebay for 500-700... I just would rather get something new and this looks pretty nice. Thanks!

I've had mine on for about 10 days now and love it. The install wasn't too bad, took alittle over an hour. Make sure you lay the top, side/rear windows in the sun, it will make it alot easier to install and zipper everything up. I like the sunrider option and that you can remove the side/rear windows too. I high recommend this top. I bought mine from 4wd.com, it was $619 shipped for the unlimited 4 door version.

I have had my Trektop NX on since March and love it. Priced it at 4wheelonline.com for $541 shipped to my door and Joe from Quadratec matched the price. The ability to just take out the side and back windows and keep the bikini top on is great

Also, I would second letting everything set in the sun before initial install. I purchased the mopar rear tailgate bar which makes putting it back on 10x easier. Literally takes less than 5 minutes for just the windows and probably around 10 minutes if the entire top is off to throw it back on. Initial install took roughly 30-40 minutes.

I would suggest this to keep it from flapping:

Damaged in Shipping

Ordered Mine Friday from 4wheelOnline it arrived today, but was damaged in shipping (probably FedEx) so now i Have to wait till friday for another one I was really looking forward to getting it put on today! I live in oklahoma and like the hard top but we wanted a soft to for the ease of taking the top down by one person. Its averaging over 100*F here everyday so i'll let everyone know how well it works when i finally get it put on.

I love mine. I like the idea of running the whole summer with the windows out and the Safari Bikini on. I have a duster, I keep in my Jeep for rain. One of the best investments I have done, IMO. Not a fan of how Bestop doesn't seem to keep them in stock when people order them causing delays but love the top. My hardtop hasn't been back on since I bout this last year.

The only complaint I had was the rear flap would flap in the wind at high speeds with the windows out but I came up with a mod last year to fix that problem and most use it now. Just order a 1/2" 4 foot long galvanized pipe from the hardware/lumber store and replace the cheap aluminum bar across the rear and no more flapping. Less then $15

Did you get one for the JKU in your sig?
I was told that they were at least 4 weeks back ordered for the JKU version.

Bought one in late May and took off the HT until the snow flies. Good quality and versatile. Paid about $560 with free shipping from Morris 4x4. A lot of folks seemed to be shopping the bigger retailers and were sadly waiting for back orders into July. As always, shop around for price (including shipping), check availability and google for promo codes (that's how I found the free shipping code). Love having both tops for the weather extremes around here.

Love it.

Have had mine on my 12 JKU for a few weeks now. Love it. Nice and tight. To me I would think the only question you have to ask yourself is whether you want a top that folds back and stores like an OEM. If you dont need that feature then this top is great. Take out the back and side windows and run in safari mode or fold back the sunrider. Does sound like the 2 door models flap more than the 4 door from what I've read.

jcanup, how does the mopar tailgate bar differ from the bestop bar that came with the trektop? I hate this bar. Taking off and putting on is a pain.

The mopar bar is three piece. The end clips that attach to the bed are separate from the bar itself. So you can remove just the bar and leave the clips

I can speak from experience with the 2 door, the bars/clips are now identical/interchangeable. I looked at what came with the Trektop, saw it was the same 2 clips, and didn't bother switching them out. I read that they used to be different. Works like a champ, love this top.
