Betty's Overhaul- Coil Overs, Flares, 37s....Video

Yep, Took her back to Rock Krawler, and ripped out what was left of the factory suspension.

The RK x-Factor is now Coiled Over. The difference? Noticeable.

Here's a video Overview



Ill have a closer look on each of parts installed coming. Still editing those.

awesome jeep dude. She's coming along nicely. My jeep will never see coil overs unless I win the lottery or scratch a winning ticket

funny right? I suffered over this one, and got crickets!

also, coil overs are cheaper than you think. The install is tough if you dont know what your doing, but they are excellent at high speed on and offroad.

My BIL got the Kings coilovers and man they do look sweet. I might go that route when I get another Jeep.

This forum is not that tech. Mostly new JK Owners lifting for looks. Post on JKO but then somebody will post "why do you need coil overs"
Then a tech war breaks out. Lol... Can't win

they really are a lot cheaper than you would think. I plan on installing king coilovers in the near future and when I priced it all out with the options I wanted the price wasnt that much more than a set of springs and a high end set of shocks!

If you are doing all the work yourself yes. Labor would kill ya. He's staying at 2.5" avoiding geometry/steering issues too.

My intstall was $800

So not cheap, but you do want to be sure its done right, with the amount of chopping getting done.

Got a estimate for the same to install a bolt on LA. That's really cheap !!

I love my Km2s but those grapplers are pretty mean looking. Dunno about 47+ ounces of weight "worth it" mean though.

Tonka looks mean on her 40s, but there are some things about the grapplers that would me go in a different direction if I was to bring Betty to 40s. Mainly weight.

Funny how much it takes to get those tires balanced.

We are planning a trip to Rausch creek in a few weeks, Ill have plenty of video so you can see how she does. Betty will be her trail partner, so you can see them climb side by side.

I havent twisted the suspension yet. There isnt a rock around here that I can make the truck climb. Im not really sure what to expect when i do make her rock crawl.....but she will crawl. I cant wait to get her in the rocks.

Ill have some video when I go.

Whats cool about the suspension, is that even with the coil overs, she is still just a 2.5". She got no taller with the changes I made. I had the RK guy build me coil overs that would keep the truck at the same height.

That was the "prototype" part of this build. Coil overs crammed into a 2.5" lift. Your normally looking at 3.5" minimum for a coil over set up.

Thats a good question. I think the guys who installed them put rings in.

I dont think they are hub centric out of the box. Lug Centric I think. If im wrong, ill update

What they are out of the box...is LIGHT.

I searched high and low for the lightest wheels when I decided to go to 37s.

I also wanted a thin wheel. 17x8.5, to make sure the 37 is as tall as i could get it.

Especially when you are the chief on a team that is set up on a racing account with a major shock company. ;-o

I love my 37" grapplers, I bought them expecting them to only last me 30k tops. Here I am at 15k and they are doing great! I did lose a balance weight recently, didnt notice it until I rotated that one to the front.
