Bigger tires

Will tires that are 285/75R16 (cooper discoverer ATP) make a difference in look and height from the stock 32s?

A 32in tire is a 32in tire, the look might a little different because of tread, but height no.

Actually that is incorrect. That dimension is the inner casing; once wrapped in rubber each tire can be a little different. It's been awhile but I believe my KM2 was 1/2" less tall than the "same size" Toyo. We're not talking inches here- you may not notice visually- but they can vary. Tire Rack has detailed specs on each tire.

My stock BFG mud Terrains 255/75/17 looked tiny beside my new General Grabber At2's 305/70/16. The height was noticeable for sure, but the width is what I loved a full 2" wider.

The main reason I went to 33's wasn't for height as much as being able to find a wide tire...I'm not a pizza cutter fan at all.

First off the 285/75R16 measure 33/11.22R16. Stock tires for 2012 JKUR 255/75R17 measures 32/10.04R17.

You may have a little rub when turning hard left or right. But I've been told that you can run 33"s with no issue.

I've got a elementary question that I should know the answer to but I didn't want to post a new thread and waste everybody's time. Is a 255/75x17 tire the same diameter as a 255/75x 18, or is it an inch smaller. Technically, the side wall of the 18 inch tire would be shorter and the larger diameter wheel would make up the difference. Like I said, "Elementary my dear Watson".

Yep an inch smaller.

The 18 would have to be 255/70/18 to measure the same diameter as the 255/75/17

If you are only running pavement you should be fine. I'd recommend wheel spacers and a small lift if you plan on anything more serious. Disconnecting your swaybar would require a two inche lift and trimmed fenders.

Ok...I posted a few weeks ago and got a great response from KPool (Thank you!) but because I'm a dumb azz I didn't check my typing and misquoted my tire size. I am running stock 255 75 r17 tires on my 2012 JKU. I want to keep my rims and move to a Duratrack in 33's. If I could indulge again, what would the size be? Also, after even more research then before and reading about spacers I want to double check if 1.5" would be sufficient?
My last question (for now) is if anyone from Connecticut could tell me if spacers are even legal. CT is such a tight azz state I wouldn't be surprised if they were not.
As always....thanks to all
