Billstein 5100s with TF leveling kit

So, my TF 2.5 coil lift hasn't shipped yet, but my shocks will arrive tomorrow. I'm running a TF leveling kit at the moment.

Is there any issue with installing these shocks now? I think the min lift required for these is 2 inches? My rear is only 1 inch high due to the leveling kit.

I'm thinking ill have to wait but wanted to check with the forum.

If I can install them now that's one less thing I have to do when the lift arrives.

Why not wait? Will still have to unbolt the lower ends to drop the axles to swap springs.

Personally, I would wait. No sense in jacking up your rig twice. Enjoy your 5100's. I love em!!!

Do you like having parts sitting in the garage waiting to be installed? I don't. LMAO

Yeah I'll have to unbolt the bottoms when installing the lift but that's no big woop to me

And I've read the fronts can be a PITA so would like to get that out of the way.

Honestly, the fronts are very simple, and you will be happy to have the extra space when you install the coils. Put the shocks on second. I have done it a couple of times and it's easier without the shocks on.

One word to the wise. Renting a coil spring compressor from Autozone will prove useful... even if it's just in case.

Throw the spring compressors in the corner and forget about them. Have a buddy push down on one side of the axle and remove and install springs.

Agreed, that's how I got the springs back in after installing the spacers. I don't mind using a compressor, but not unless I have to.

You will love the ride. I just recently installed the bilstein 5100's and they are MUCH better than the stock shocks !!!

In all seriousness. The rear coils will fall out once everything is disco'd. Plus the fact he's going to have the CA's/TB bolts loose as well is going to make it a breeze. The front is a little harder because of the bumpstops, but i still find it easier than farking with darn spring compressors.

you don't need a spring compressor. like KJ said, the rear springs fall out and for the fronts instead of having someone step on the tie rod or anything just "Roll" the spring off the perch and do the same when putting it on. I found that if you just twist it counter-clockwise it will back out of the channel in the perch and roll off naturally with very little effort, the same goes when putting it back on.

Trust me, I'm all set.

My leveling kit on the other hand took 3 tries as I'd never dropped a suspension before. This will be a walk in the park. LOL
