Black Appearance Group

I am looking to buy a new 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I was thinking about buying a 2011 wrangler at first but after hearing about the up and coming changes to the 2012 i had to wait. I do like the black appearanace group package. My only question is i know you get the black gas cap cover, tail lamp covers and a black tubular running boards. Are these different from the standard more flat running boards you can add as a seperate option? I like the flat ones more over the tubular ones and if i had to could just order the parts from mopar to get the tail lamp covers / gas cover.

Thanks for the help

You could order the parts from Mopar, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Far cheaper (and often better) similar items are available through several of the zillions of aftermarket companies that specialize in Wrangler customization.

I have the black appearance package on my 2010, and I like it. But I'm sure I overpaid getting it straight from Jeep like that. With limited exception, it's safe to assume that any factory ordered cosmetic change to the Wrangler can be done aftermarket for much less.

^Very true!

I got the black appearance group as well and after i bought it i was just browsing 4WD.com and saw that they had the exact same type of stuff for about half the price that Jeep charges you...if i were you i would buy similar aftermarket parts, they are a helluva lot cheaper

yes i thought that it would be cheaper to do aftermarket parts as well. But if i were to get that option does anyone know if the running boards are tubular or flat?

Anyone with photos of the black appearance group straight from the factory would be helpful too

I purchased my black tubular Mopar side steps from Quadratec. They will match any others price either the dealer or aftermarket. Get them on the phone before you buy! Pic on profile.

I have the black appearance group on my 2011 JK. The side steps are the rounded type rather than the flat type you prefer. I prefer the rounded style but I am running them on a 2 door JK and I think they look better on my model. On the JKU, the flat steps look really good.
