The purpose of grill inserts is to keep bugs of the radiator...is there mesh that goes in there ?

no these grill inserts are cosmetic only. I may replace them with the mesh lined eventually but that was an additional $100 at least for the ones i looked at.

You can do that yourself pretty easily if you take the grill off and attach mesh to the inside...it's very easy to remove...

Look into the Rugged Ridge mesh, only about $50....looks great too! I'm not a fan of the border inserts you show

doesn't look like the rugged ridge fits the 2012's at least according to their site.
