I don't know the answer to that for sure but I really doubt it will fit, and the baseplate is all steel, so modifications to it will be next to impossible. However, unless you've already bought the baseplate AND the bumper, why even bother to find out? I tow four-down behind my motorhome, and if you're going to replace your bumper anyway, just get a bumper that you can tow directly from - it's much more convenient. I personally have the RockHard bumper which comes with optional tow brackets, and the LOD bumpers can be ordered with tow brackets welded on. The RockHard brackets can be used with some of the other bumpers depending on how they are attached.
Thx for your reply. Still looking for options. Spent good money for the baseplate, have a good winch, so looking for a bumper that works with what I have.
Yeah, I get it. I was in the same boat as you. My jeep replaced my previous toad and I was in a hurry to get the jeep ready for flat towing when I got it since it was in the season. Bought and installed the baseplate at the time, but then started having regrets. I knew I eventually wanted a winch, so I just decided to cut my losses and go with the setup I should have done in the first place. I'll sell my baseplate and take a loss on it, writing it off as an expensive lesson learned.
I'm not sure if you've ever installed your own baseplate - the reason I would be surprised if it will work with any bumper but the stock bumper is that you have to dremel out the plastic parts (basically the air dam) in a couple of spots to get it to fit, and then it works and looks great. But, I can't imagine having to carve those same spots out in a metal bumper, either steel or aluminum.
By the way, the Blue Ox baseplate is NOT designed to ever be taken off, so if you do decide to install it, you better be 100% certain that you'll never want to change your mind and just tow from the bumper.
If you are really set on keeping your baseplate and using your winch, you might want to just get the winch plate that can be used with the stock bumper.
I went through a similar thought process. I knew that if I bought the Blue Ox baseplate I would only ever be able to use the stock bumper... so I ended up buying the LoD bumper with welded towbar tabs. The cost of the bumper was less than the baseplate and a bumper, so this seemed like a good solution. It's also how I convinced my wife that this was the way to go!
