Body color fenders. Who else hates them.

Had my jku two months and mine are already nicely chewed up from road crap being kicked up from the titrs. Seriously considering just bed lining them. Anyone else feel the same way or have a better solution?

This! ^^ ^^

I've had my Jeep 2 months and the fenders look great, but I had Xpel Ultimate installed on them within a week of taking possession. My last Jeep had the black fenders which I didn't care for because they tend to fade.

I'm glad I don't have them. They would be all scratched up by now. I have to admit that the plastic used is not the best, but it's better than paint. Sooner or later, I'll swap mine out for aftermarket ones. I think Jeep skimped on the fenders and bumpers knowing that most people will be swapping them out anyways. I personally don't like the look of painted fenders or tops. Makes the Wrangler look like a Cherokee.

I agree that Jeep probably doesn't give them or the bumpers much thought knowing that the majority of owners are going to replace those items quickly.
LOL, what planet are you guys on? :D 250,000 Wranglers a year are sold in North America and you think that "most" or "the majority" of them get fender swaps? :lmao:

1% of that would be 2500/ a year pulling their fenders. No way in hell there's even that many.

Jeep cheaps out on EVERYTHING for one reason: people continue to buy Wranglers in ever increasing numbers, and the cheaper they can be made the more profit will be in the corporate pockets, propping up the poor-selling car offerings.

I do not like the look they give. To me it takes away some of the personality of the Wrangler and just makes it look like another member in the Jeep line.

I had my eye out for the stock black plastic fenders before I even ordered my jeep! I didn't care for the body matched fenders that came on the Freedom Edition. Got two sets from a friend and now my blue fenders are packed away in the attic!

I know not everyone feels that way, but to me it just NEEDED the black fenders! :D

I don't like body colored fenders or top. I also happen to think Wranglers should only be bright saturated colors so that the black top and black fender and black bumpers make a nice contrast. I refuse to buy a Jeep for anyone that doesn't agree with me. Ok, I don't buy Jeeps for anyone else anyway - what's your point?

Thank you very much! :)

I don't mind body coloured fenders at all, but I prefer black. I plastidipped mine black for about a year. I replaced them w/ Bushwacker Flat Fenders, peeled the plastidip off the originals, and sold them on CL for a few hundred dollars.

If you protect them they won't fade. Spray them with an UV protectant every time you wash it. Coming from an aviation background I like to use stuff that's used on aircraft on my cars. 303 Aerospace for plastics and vinyl, T-9 Boeshield for lubrication, and F4 tape to wrap things with.

Great reccy -- I just bought a gallon of 303 and hit my fenders and bumper. Can't speak to long term protection, but it made them look GREAT compared to the ones I hadn't done yet. Very satiny, not gloss at all, just clean and new looking.

303 works great on the interior, too. Just don't use it on the slush mats. They get way too slippery.

Ask me how I know?

Some ACE Hardware stores or West Marines have it. Otherwise, best price is eBay or amazon by the gallon.

I personally think it depends on the Jeep and intended use. My wife's Freedom edition looks great with painted flares. It's her mallcrawler so the only "off-road" it will see is our gravel driveway. My Willys on the other hand will be our wheeling Jeep and has black fenders accordingly.

I'm 50/50 on them, but my wife was 100% match or no go... Makes it an easy decision.

There is a Flame Red Rubi near me with match fenders and black top, I kinda like it. Then again, wife, kids and I all like the skittles colors and they really stand out all matching.

I have Deep Water Blue and the painted fenders and like them, but I also like the look of some black with this blue as well. My fenders have started taking a beating since I put my new wheels/tires on and I've been trying to think of a way to protect. May try the film, but have also considered just plastidipping either the front-facing portion of the rear fenders, or just doing all four fenders completely

I hated the black ABS plastic on my 1984 GMC Jimmy back in the day. Faded, didn't look good, etc. Spending this much money on a new Wrangler I knew that I had to have a painted top and fender. Mine still looks good, even with country roads and tires that stick out a just little bit.
