BORA or Spidertrax?

going to put 285-70-17 or 285/75-17's on new rubicon rims and going to need spacers. Seems this are the two that have the best rep Spidertrax appears to only come in 1.5" while BORA comes in a variety of sizes. It seems like perhaps 1" or 1.25" would be ideal on a stock rim. I kind of want the tire slightly inside the flair. Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure spidertrax comes in 1.75" too. I saw it in Quadratec catalog. Spidertrax are made in USA, not sure about Borla?

see post #10 from the link below. I'm ordering the 1.5 Bora's because of the 285/75/17's and Lenny's customer service. Not that SpiderTrax aren't great, Lenny was just that helpful.

getting a new rubicon and keeping the stock rims. I have been running 285/75 16's on rims with 4.5" backspacing and the tires are just outside the flairs and this time around I would like them slightly inside. I am hoping to go with same tire only in a 285/75-17 as I my new one will have 4.10 gearing this time around.

I have dealt with Lenny in the past when I got my hub centric rings. While my rings eventually came and were quality they took a lot longer to get then he said they would.

With the 285/75/17's you have to account for different actual mounted/inflated/aired down sizes due variations between manufacturers...

Duratracs & BFG's are known to actually run smaller than Cooper, Toyo & MT. Granted this is more of a concern for tire height than width, but sidewall bulge will differ slightly too.

I agree you could probably be OK with .75 spacers on fully inflated tires with stock rims... But also consider full flex while deflated, and you might end up with 1.25" to avoid any pinching or rubbing in extreme conditions.

Lastly, there's the itch to go bigger, if you did ever go to a 12.5 inch wide tire, then you'd be glad to already have the 1.5" spacers - but you have to balance that against being less tucked and the actual mounted inflated/aired down dimensions of the brand size you're looking at.

I think that's why Lenny asked: "are you going to lift it? (my ans: yes, 2.5 TF BB) Are you going to wheel it hard? (my ans: probably moderately, but nothing extreme) Do you ever think you'll want to go with wider tires? (my ans: probably not by much, or I'd go with a bigger lift and new wheels)

I think those variables are why 1.5's end up being so common, they're the most flexible option with the most common use-cases. That being said, if you knew your use-case with precision and didn't vary from it, then the slimmer spacers are fine and keep you more tucked.

I like how aev pintlers look with their backspacing and lots of those with 35's and 37's. I think they have 5.2 or 5.6 backspace need to check for sure.

Stock 2013 Rubi wheels are 44.45mm offset (6.0" backspace). Now just figure the change in the widest part of the sidewall between stock and your target tire, then leave a little room for deflation.

to insure no problems just change the wheels to a 4.5" backspace. the taller the vehicle the slightly wider stance is required. the interco Birddog wheel is designed by wheelers with many patented features designed to work first. lots of neat features. might want to check out the interco tire web and click on the wheel to really appreciate what it can do for you

for some reason I thought they were 6.25" backspace on stock rims. If they are 6" then for me 1" spacer would be ideal.

I am the odd man out I really like the way the stock 13-14 rubi rims look. My last set of rims were raceline 4.5" bs and I just don't this set being outside the flares. I know the birddogs are top notch but too much in my opinion.

AGREED. I'm gonna wait for them to make a 71.5 mm center bore.

.

Thee INTERNET says they are 6.25. Doing the math, they are indeed a 6.0.

When deciding on a wheel spacer, I looked at Our current situation. Planning on future set-ups that might/probably not occur, is unwise.

I believe they're only sold directly through Motorsports Tech. Check out their website, they also have an online bargain bin as well. If you don't see what your looking for in the bin, give Lenny a call. I think that part of the site is updated periodically.
