Breaking 22 on hwy mpg

Hey guys just wondering what he average mpg you are getting hwy at these rpm. This wasn't coasting .I was in a stock 2009 Rubicon in sixth gear manual . I was able to sustain over 23 mpg for nearly an hour.
On the return trip through Ohio barely made it over 18.. All flat interstate.

What gives ?

Did you reset the MPG gauge right b/f you got on the interstate? They are pretty inaccurate when they're reset and take a while to get back to normal. On board MPG gauges aren't that accurate to begin with. It's much better to keep track manually or through an app.

2010 auto w/ 33s, about 19 pure interstate and 16 mixed.

My guess would be lots of tail wind and downhill sections.

My 2012 did around 20-22 at first. The dreaded head started to fail, down to closer to 16. Head got replaced and now I'm back around 20 highway. I've mostly quit paying attention because I'd still drive it if it got 4 highway.

On 35's with 4.11 RP on sixth I normally get around 22/24.5 average highway. With an average of 17.6 city/highway when I am not pushing it. This is on a 2011 stock motor. I did switch to full synthetic oil last year though.

Wind and even a light breeze will make a big difference on a Wrangler. Especially over 60mph.
