Broke Down

I was driving my 2009 JK 4 Door home from work. It started just fine. I'm driving for about 10 min and noticed that my inter light is on. So I pull over to check and turn it off. I park on the side of the road and turn off the Jeep. I get the light off, one of the guys I took to lunch must have turned it on. I then go to start and Nothing. I get dash lights but The motor doesn't even attempt to turn over! What gives? The battery couldn't have died that fast and if so it wouldn't have started in the first place. So here I am waiting for a tow truck tapping on my iPhone. Any ideas? It's in park. It's an auto so there is no clutch. I am on a incline.

Parking brake on? In park? Make sure everything is like it should be to start. Start over. Get out of the car and get back in and do it again. You must have forgotten something

Another thing. When I no turn the key no lights come on. The heater fan doesn't even have power. Yet if I open and close the door and then try. The dash will light up and the heater fan will come on. Could it be my key?

Yep in park. I did get out and back in. I tried opening the door as if I left and then tried to lock it using the keys fob. Nothing thing. I bet it's my key.

If possible, can you write back and share what happened? or what went wrong?
Just curious, thanks.

Update. I made the mistake of getting out if the Jeep and locking it. I got tired of waiting in a cold truck. Once arming the Jeep by locking it, I was doomed. (all the while waiting in 25 degree weather for the tow truck). For you see by locking it, I set the alarm and since my Key Fob wasn't working, when I went to get back in the alarm went off! It Also went off when the tow truck drive had to get in to setup the tow etc... In all I must have set it off 5 times. Yep I bet the folks in that neighborhood were not happy. It's still at the dealership tonight. They determined that the wireless module went bad. I can't image how much that would have sucked if I had been on a trail.

Thanks.

Finally got my jeep back today. They replaced the wireless module. I asked the service manager if this happens often and he said that it's rare. This was the second one he's ever heard of doing this. They also had to reprogram both my keys.

That is one of the reasons why I chose the Jeep Wrangler Spartan edition. Less electronics to go wrong.

That sucks man. Definitely a good thing it didn't happen on the trail. Pretty hard to repair that on the side of the trail!

I wasn't aware that there was a Spartan Edition. Is that special order? Thanks

He might mean the base model with the crank windows and the 6 speed. He is right tho. There r much less electronics to go wrong on that one

lol.. Yeah that's the one. The base model, no bells and whistles. Crank windows, no power door locks...

I wanted it to be as unreliant as possible to electronic issues.
