brother-in-laws FJ

Ok, guys....need some ideas here. My goofy brother-in-law just bought an FJ cruiser and refuses to accept my off-road challenge! "this is for pavement only".... wow....think I will buy a Leer jet and only use it to drive down the road...anyway, I digress...

Help me come up with the ultimate dare/challenge that he can't refuse! I want to pound that Yota into the hillside.....

Go out in the woods and call him. Tell him you're stuck and need him to help you. Once he's there, well...

Might be better to just keep this as an ongoing debate vs actually going out on the road. It would keep peace in the family.

Hide a nice bottle of bourbon in the woods and tell him if he can make it out there he can keep it. If that doesn't work, call him the "P" word. That always gets my brother-in-law to do stupid crap.

This is a little more involved but I got a buddy GOOD when he bought a FJ! Go to the Toyota website and get a recall sheet on any vehicle they've recalled. Then print it out, have it scanned to a flash drive. Then EDIT his vehicle's information on it VIN etc on it... on the last line put..."guess you shoulda bought a Jeep"! He'll read the whole thing...my not so sharp friend never finished reading it. Took it to the dealership to have it dealt with... It wasn't until the Service Manager read the sheet and asked if he had any "friends" that "owed him one"!

I have gone off roading with a guy that has a fj and it did pretty good, But still ifs,,,,,,,, besides jeep the fj and the xterra are the two closest off road suvs in usa in my opinion.. My pro 4x I traded in made it through stuff a stock jk could not at times.. but I had rear locker and bigger tires.. my new stock rubi would bury my pro 4x,
If you buy any of these vehicles you have to wheel them otherwise you are better off with a uni body sport ute....

Its very simple, you don't even need to leave your driveway. Get three adults at leas 6' tall, close all doors and time how long it takes them to get in the back seat and then how long it takes them to get out. You can even go as far as counting the scrapes an bruised from getting tangled on the seat belts from the front seat.

offer him a prize.... if his FJ can beat your jeep in something, then you'll take him out for lobster dinner, drinks, strip club etc

9/10 times that'll get any of my buddies to go on in a bet of some sort.

All I can say is don't under estimate the ability of the FJ--you may be surprised.

Topless contest. Here are the rules:

1. You can use your vehicle or your wife.
2. Go topless in your driveway.

See who wins.

I am a FJ fan...seen them going through some pretty rough trails, and sometimes pretty fast too. Trust me- you can't pound it into the hillside. That's just the usual talk you hear here. What you can do is quietly disconnect his battery cable or put a non-conducting strip under it and tighten it back up a little. Then you can make fun of his Yota not starting in fear.

I had an FJ a few years back (2008 Trail Teams). It was actually quite nice and was very capable off-road. I'd probably still be driving it, but it was totaled in an accident. I think people have a misconception with the FJ because it's a little more road friendly than the Jeep, but it is very, very capable. That being said, your b in law is a wuss

No question Jeeps are better, you won't hear an argument from me there. I was just saying that the FJ's are nice. Although, supposedly they're being discontinued, but I remember hearing my production year was the last year and that was 2008...

Just convince him the FJ is very capable (which it is). Also why make it a competition? I imagine for the wheeling that you are doing both vehicles would do well. That just hinders people from getting into the hobby. I wheel with FJs all the time, and its what I started in. Most have a rear locker and that combined with a sort-of limited slip up front, they are very capable.

The video doesn't do it justice. This is a very difficult ledge.

I think this is my favorite yet!!

I do happen to like the FJ and really tried to get my wife to buy one. My Jeep is a bit too, um, unrefined for her. However, as has been said, it's absolutely ridiculus to buy a Jeep, FJ or Exterra and never leave the pavement. I may not be able to pound one into the hillside, but absolutely no doubt can leave it in the dust-mud-snow-rocks.

they really aren't bad vehicles... i know they can't compare to the original FJ, but for what it is and throw in Toyota quality. its a good vehicle.

if comparing off road ability to a wrangler, the FJ can hold its own but it can't do what a wrangler can do. it also doesnt have the ability to remove doors and the roof. that was the number 1 reason i went with a wrangler.
