Bug deflector

Thinking about buying a bug deflector for my jku.. I saw a few different brand On Quadratec.. Any recommendations?? Pros on and cons?? Don't want it to scratch my hood?? Just think it looks really nice.. Especially on a white jeep

I'm wondering if it can work? The grill and windshield are huge bug magnets. It'd have to be really good!

One con tho would be slightly lower mpg. Idk if it will be noticeable but you are hurting your aerodynamics with that

Gas is already bad enough lol.. Not getting it to really deflect bugs.. I just really like the way it looks.. Just want to make sure it won't scratch or break off my jeep causing more damage

I like the idea ... I just don't want to drill holes.

You just want a bug defelctor for looks? Never heard of that one before. To each their own. I imagine it wouldn't cause any damage to your hood, if they did, i don't think people would own one..

It shouldn't cause more damage. If anything it will actually prevent some road chips from happening on the hood

I think they are just stuck on with 3m tape right?

This is the one I got:
14013 - Bushwacker TrailArmor Hood & Tailgate Protector for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

I have not installed yet, but it is no-drill.

Hope to get it installed this weekend, if I do I'll post pics.

No

Don't expect too much protection from the bug shields that are out there. They will protect your hood from horizontal impacts, but since I installed mine, I still see strikes anywhere from 1/4 of the way up the windshield and higher...

Aside from keeping the leading edge of my hood from getting nicked up... the bug deflector does NOTHING!

Check out the one from Weathertech. The price was very good when I got mine. It goes on with no drilling and fits very well. Definitely no whistling. I also like the look. It doesn't really keep bugs off the windshield, but does protect the hood. It was one of the very first things I added.

I had a AVS and it was the WORST MOD EVER! It redirected the wind to hit directly in the middle of the windshield and the noise was beyond terrible at 60 mph and up. It was an absolute roar. I took it off after 20 miles and returned it to Autozone for a full refund. The manufacturer got it to test it for why it was so bad. Don't buy one.

Mine is a Wade that I ordered through Quadratec. I had these on a lot of different vehicles, and have come to the conclusion there is a reason they call them deflectors, rather than preventers. If the bugs are the size of P-51 Mustangs coming at you at 70+ mph, they are going to make it through. Mine works pretty good for the gnats and smaller than the average housefly. Bees moved up the glass to the top 1/4. It does help when driving at highway speeds with snow. No road noise that I could discern. Before I could get it on....two rock chips on the leading edge of the hood. If I were to get them repaired, it would cost me more than the cost of the shield. So, I think they are a worthwhile investment, even if all it does is provide extra lift under the wings of the grasshoppers and spins them into eternity butt first.

I am guessing with this front setup, you don't have lovebugs where you live, haha! That would suck to clean up after running into those buggers.

I worked down in Florida for a while and was able to experience a "flock" or two of those messed up bugs. You would have to strap sheets of plywood on all four sides to protect against those things. When you fly through a swarm of those, they hit you from all four sides with both heads.

No, most of the bugs above 5,000 ft. aren't quite that bad. Although the acid rain drinking gnats along the Colorado River can at times blacken the whole front.
