Bugs in my radiator

My radiator turns into an insect mass grave after long drives. It's a PITA to clean.

I am looking to ameliorate the situation. Any ideas?

I would look into a grill mesh to keep them out of there. Otherwise maybe an air compressor to blow them out.

The metalcrafter grille insert does wonders keeping bugs off the radiator.

Since most of the bugs don't actually seem to be sticking to the insert either, I think what's really happening is that they're getting smashed into pieces too small to clog the radiator.

^^^ This. Grille mesh will prevent that, and also stop leaves from building up behind your grille in the Fall. DIY, buy one...here are some links:

x2. I got one off amazon for under $40. Look for Jeep Wrangler JK Black Mesh Grille. It took about an hour to install. It's basically 7 pieces of mesh plus some anchors you stick on and some zip ties. I bought some J-B Weld Kwik Plastic to use to stick the anchors better. Pic Below:

I've got the rugged ridge billet grille insert. I think it was around $50 dollars. looks great as it forms to the grille slots pretty well. I captured a lot of bugs on my 500 mile trip last weekend, but I plan on adding a thicker, removable mesh (for easy cleaning) behind it (probably 3-4 inches). reason why I didn't go with the thicker mesh at first was because I do not like the look of it. hopefully my mod will allow me to keep the same look from each angle while allowing more protection.

Bugs are my big worry in TX.

Pet screen. No even a dog can scratch thru it. $12 for a lifetime supply.

Swap out for new when it gets full of bugs in minutes, radiator stays like new!!

HA!

HA!
But I see it doesn't keep spider monkeys out of the engine compartment.

Caution, high pressure car washes can flatten your radiator/tranny cooler fins!

Was going to use the RR grill but because of the Mopar hood lock, ended up DIY, would have preferred one-piece though:
