Build Tracking for Canadians?

This week I got a VIN from my dealership. Went to the build tracker online and it won't accept it, saying that it is incorrect. Called Jeep (US) and they can't find the number in the system. Had the dealership check the number. Tried again both online and over the phone with Jeep. Still an invalid VIN.
Any other Canadians having trouble tracking their builds?

Is this a jeep on order? If so, may be too soon to pull build sheet.

You can't order a build sheet until you actually have possession of the Jeep (For Canada anyways). I had issues with tracking mine, and there were a few delays, but eventually it showed up. I ordered 7/31 and it was 10/2 by the time it arrived.

Ordered October 9th. Dealership told me that they put in a request for the Jeep a month before I ordered it. I should get it sometime this month. It does seem odd that I can't track the build until I get the Jeep. What concerns me is that I'm due to go on vacation and I want to give my insurance company a heads-up before I go. I hope somebody hasn't screwed up the VIN. I guess I'm a nervous expectant dad.

It seems not too long ago, I was in the same boat. During the whole build process, I was never able to get any info for my Jeep in the VOTS. If I recall, I was only able to get any amount on information from the US customer service center, and that, only a few weeks after I had a serial Number. Things seem to go quickly though once it started up the line. The U.S. customer service folks would sometimes give me the information right away, but sometimes they would tell me that I had to call the Canadian Cust. Serv. Number. But I would give them a long sob story about how the canadian site did not have the info and how my jeep was my dream come true and that I could not sleep at night without knowing how it was doing, and eventually they would give me the status ;-)

Hang in there. Your doing good to read up. There is lots of good info on this site. Oh and BTW, be prepared to fork out any life savings or kids college funds into "Spicing up" your new jeep. I know you think you might be able to resist, and say things like: "Naw, I think I'll just keep it stock." But once it starts, That's it. Look at My new shoes I put on my jeep last night:

I know I am gratuitously using your thread to show off my new wheels, but like I said, I lost all remaining will power I had. My wife is jealous, because I spend more time & money on Fiona than her now.

OK, Back on track; I ordered mine on March 7th, On the 18th I called to change my order from 3.21 to 3.73. Got my Serial Number about a week later. Started getting status info about the 2nd week of April. Build started sometime at the end of April and I took delivery on May 18th.

First off, congrats on being an expectant dad! If this is your first, you will love being a daddy! And as kids get older, they LOVE Jeeps. My 4 year old son points out and waves to the other Jeeps sometimes before I even see them.

In regards to your insurance, just call them and tell them when you expect to be picking up the Jeep. If the dealer cannot get you a VIN before that time, the insurance company can do a "binder" policy for you. The dealer should have no issues getting VIN for you though after your Jeep hits a certain point in the build process, I think it's D1.

What dealership did you order from?

Called Jeep Canada this morning. No record of that VIN. Called dealership, re-confirmed the number. Correct. They called Jeep Canada and they finally got through to the right person. Here's the story. Canadians cannot check build status either online or by calling Jeep. My Jeep is being built but I can't check on status until build is complete. Why does this information not appear on their website or why customer service reps. can't tell me this over the phone is frustrating.
Thanks for all your help, guys. I guess I'll just be pacing up and down the waiting room without any word from the mid-wife!

Like i said, The canadian customer service was no help at all, but If you call the US 1877IAMJEEP (877-426-5337) Eventually, you'll talk to someone that will be willing to help out. Be nice and Beg. It worked for me.

The dealership you bought your Jeep from can check the status on your Jeep. Trust me, my dealership was getting sick of hearing from me calling every week to check.

The thing with Jeep Canada that pissed me off is even though I factory ordered my Jeep, Jeep could not send me a build sheet until the Jeep was actually registered in my name. My understanding is all Jeep dealers in Canada order Jeeps in their company name before registering it in the customer's name. I think it's different for US customers, because I vaguely remember seeing a "This Jeep was build for ...." document somewhere online for a factory ordered Jeep.

Call the dealership and tell them you want weekly emailed updates on the build status of your Jeep. They should be able to help you out.

The build sheet I got with my jeep says on it: "This Jeep was build for (My name was there)

When the Dealership faxed me the POC (Priced Order Confirmation) sheet the day after my order, I could see my name and address on the order sheet in the Customer Name section

It also had the VON. That is the number that the Cust. Serv. used to get my VIN when it became available.

I looked into this as well when I ordered mine back in July. My dealership looked at me like I had 3 eyes when I asked how to track it. From what I got from asking around we cannot track them at all up here. Guess the jeep website doesn't have a valid passport and can't cross the border!

I ran into the same thing with my order. I have a vin number but cannot track it other then through the dealership inquiries. Ordered this new JK unlimited Sahara on Dec 27th. It is supposed to be in D1 now and will be delivered here to New Brunswick Canada on April 3rd.
