Bull bar is Bull

We recently decided to put a stainless steel bull bar on our 2010 Jeep Wrangler just to mount lights on. We ordered one that alledgedly fits 2007 to current ? We discovered they changed the configuration under the front starting in 2010, and the brackets will not bolt on. The vendor is telling us it will work, but we need to drill 2 holes ? Has anyone done this. If the answer is posted on another section, I apologize. I just joined, and need a quick answere. I have to send the unit back ASAP if it won't work, but would rather keep it if it will. I have to pay return postage and lose 20% restocking fee.

What brand bull bar? Got a link?

Need info. There are several aftermarket bars out there.

It's a rugged ridge. Here's a link to the page. The installation instructions are on the page. Their acting like drilling these holes aren't a big deal, but nothing in the instructions says you have to drill holes. They wait until you try to return it before they let you know.

I don't know anything about that bull bar but the website does say 07-09, and the installation instructions say up to 08, so I'm not surprised that the instructions don't mention it. Sorry, but it seems like your options are to drill the holes like they say, or send it back and get something else. If they told you it would fit maybe you can convince them to pay the postage and waive the restocking fee due to the fact that you were misled.

have you considered this one: Off Camber Fabrications 130716 - Off Camber Fabrications Frame Mount Light Bar for 07-11 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

IMO it looks so much better and it's not going to impact your clearance or approach angles. i know it sort of sucks to bite the bullet. if you want to argue with the vendor, quadratec has the same thing on their website, and it said 7-12 JKs. i did not look at the instructions, just in the search function "it shows up as a 07-12 bull bar.

here's that link: Rugged Ridge 82501.27 - Rugged Ridge 3" Stainless Steel Bull Bar for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

food for thought. i know right now you're frustrated... but there are other options. sometimes patience is a good thing. god knows i've changed my mind about everything on my JK about 29 times...

Talked to my buddy who has a machine shop. He's reviewed the instructions for drilling the holes, and he says he will make it work. I need to keep the lights lower, as I'm a volunteer fireman, and the lights we're mounting on it will be blue strobes. Thank's everyone for all the help. Time for Coor's....

Why do people buy these bull bars/grille guards for 200-300-400$ and then come here wanting answers? If you would have come here first we would have told you not to buy that shit because you could find a whole replacement bumper or light mounts cheaper and more funtional....

That being said. If you need to drill holes to make it work and you want to keep it, then drill the holes and bolt it up... I dont see the issue.
