Looking for advice on unlimiteds. If you had the chance to purchase a 2015 Willys unlimited or a basic 2013 with 12,000 miles for $8,000 less, what would you do.

Thanks

I'd go for the 3/36 warranty every day of the week and twice on Sunday. :D

And better than possibly inheriting someone else's problems.

Check out post 1 of the 2015 waiting room; there are some buying tips that will help you buy below invoice. Add that savings, plus the lower interest rate on new vs used and see if that difference doesn't shrink dramatically.

It really depends on your budget. I tried to find a pre-owned 2014-ish JKU but they were all within price range of new so I bought the 2015. Plus all the used ones I found had way more than 12,000mi, that's not bad for a 2012.

Does the 2012 have all the options you want? Does the new Willy's?

I just re-read this again and realized it was a basic '13, not '12, sorry about that.

If you are going to lift it and put bigger tires right away, think about that. The '13 has smaller wheels/tires which won't make any bit of difference once they are replaced. The rest of the drive train is identical (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

The warranty is a plus too.

It's what ever you can afford, I was weighing the options myself for awhile, but it's a wrangler so it's never a bad idea to buy new, they hold their value so well, but your comparing a Willys to a base that's 3 years old? Why not just buy a 2015 base? For about a grand more

Sorry, I didn't realize you were in CF. Check out Fields Jeep in Sanford. They will do 2% below invoice with no haggling. You just have to be a member of TreadLightly or work for a company who takes part in the Chrysler Affiliates program.

PGA: I'm in Ormond Beach (just north of Daytona). I actually purchased my 2015 from Fields in Sanford. They took off $2200 from sticker as the "internet" price. Not a bad experience but still don't understand why it takes as long to buy a vehicle as it does a house lol

Lynn was the guy that helped me. He was pretty cool.

When you guys are in Ocala, make sure you check out Hard Rock ORV, if you haven't already. :)

PGA: I prefer the auto when I'm on hills and stuff. I know a lot of people that actually like the stick better off-road, but I felt like I had better control. Did you decide on new vs 2013 yet?

StarBrite: I've been to the HardRock when they used to have the mountain bike trails out there. They closed it to mt bikes I'm assuming to open more of it or all of it as an off-road park. I haven't been there in the Jeep yet, but would love to go.

Yeah, a couple of our friends go there to offroad and they really like it. :)

Make sure you let us know what you thought of it, if you ever decide to try it out.

i would buy new and my reasons are.

nothing beats the feeling knowing that your the first one to ride it and owned it (de javu)

if you happen to sell it helps to be a one time owner

and i assume your a hard working person, then if i was gonna spend some money.

im gonna do it right.

In my research, you cannot buy a late model Wrangler used.
It is within a grand or two (or less) of buying a brand new one.

My father bought a new 2003 Wrangler Sahara in late 2002. Drove it as a toy for 56,000 miles and kept it in very good condition.

Last year, he traded it in on a brand new Sahara with a window sticker of $35,250.00 (2 door).

He received a hard $16,000.00 from trade as he paid $14,000.00 difference on the new Wrangler.

Do the math. In 2002, he paid $23,000.00 for the new Sahara. 12 years later, he received a hard $16,000.00 for it. That is $7,000.00 in depreciation over a 12 year period. It cost him approx. $50.00 per month in depreciation to own that vehicle.

The dealer listed the 2003 Sahara for $18,995.00 and it was sold within two weeks. They likely received $18,000ish for it. For a 12 + year old vehicle which window stickered for $26,000.00.
