TIPM failure?
I heard they changed vendors due to massive failure rates.

You do realize Toyota has factories here in the States? The Tundra is built in Texas.
You also realize there are "made in China" parts on your Jeep?

I still find it amazing how many say that while ignoring the fact they are driving a vehicle manufactured by a company owned by FIAT! Doh!

I do have to give Fiat credit. They are doing a nice job of turning the product around while maintaining the history and performance of the vehicles.

I have nothing to add to this thread other than I'm apparently in the slim bit. 3 Saturns since 1994 all built in the Spring Hill plant (at least I believe the early 2003 Ions were built there). I did stray for 3 years with a Nissan Z but that was it

You are misinformed. Every new platform vehicle will have potential problems. That's how the product ultimately gets better. The problems are not nearly as widespread as any forum member would have you believe. It just sucks when it happens to you. I bought a 08 Toyota Tundra 5.7 brand new. I loved the truck. I traded it in when I no longer needed a truck and got the Jeep. I am very pleased. In 2 years with the Tundra, I had to replace the stock junk tires at 25,000 miles, the blower motor went up at 40,000 miles, the electronic Window switch (drivers side) went up at 50,000. I have to still say it was a good vehicle overall. But some may disagree. Shit happens with vehicles, none are perfect. And every dealer from every manufacturer are nuts! Some just hide it better than others.

PS My soft top Wrangler doesn't leak at all. I have had it since May 2012 in NW Florida where we have had some serious rain/tropical storms this summer and not one drop has come into the interior via a leak. It is also much quieter than I ever expected even at 80 miles per hour on the highway.

Received my jeep back today with a new computer. Don a Vee claims its the second 2012 they've seen with this. Hope they fixed it!

Update: Received my JK back from Don A Vee Wednesday afternoon. They changed out the computer. I drove it not more than 24 hours and it refused to start again leaving me stranded at the mall last night. Fortunately, the same tow truck driver came--really nice guy--he helped push it out of the parking structure so that he could get it on the flat bed tow truck. I experienced the exact same symptoms. I'm guessing it's a shorted wire leading to the computer perhaps? Good luck finding that one! Oh please fix my jeep Don A Vee!

Run it up the flagpole to mother Chrysler. My Power Wagon was suffering it's third TIPM failure (or so the dealership thought) when Chrysler got involved at the top level. A tech from corporate sorted it out and it was a loose wire that was bad from the start.
If I hadn't asked for help, the dealer would've just replaced the TIPM again and it would've failed again.

I'm more than happy to park my incoming Rubicon right next to my 4yr old FJ. Both are great vehicles. The FJ hate I've seen over the last four years is laughable for the most part.

Most (if not all) of the issues people run into are with parts that are shared with the $22,000 base model. So it is a 20k truck...some just have 20k in options

I had many electrical issues with my 2012 rubi and I am waiting on my 2013 right now. I ended up going lemon law when I fit the criteria in Texas. I will give a more detailed post of the issues and the ways they tried to fix them later this evening.

I had a Ford bought back because of electrical issues, it had more times in the shop then I can remember. Ford engineers looked at it and scratched their heads. Bottom line is electrical problems can be the most difficult of all problems to resolve. Good luck with the 2013 you deserve it.

A lot of people seem to be having weird issues and not just the ticking. Mines a 12 built in August and no ticking at 1200 miles but my locks randomly lock and unlock whenever they want. I can be just starting out going forward or reverse and thwump...lock. I can be driving for 10 min or an hour and all of a sudden thwump..lock or unlock. Dont know, havnt been to dealer. Dont care but, I am a firm believer that all the new vehicles ship with Gremlins nowadays.

We call your neck of the woods ignorant. Not in name calling, just a lack of consideration and respect for others. There ARE Jeepers here on the forum of Japanese descent. Since you don't respect them, would you also feel comfortable calling white people crackers and Blacks ******s here too? I mean, do you do that in your neck of the woods?

LMAO...and this just shows the level of education and egotism in this nation...normally always from people that have never set foot anywhere else or have little if any real education, take everything at face value, and never investigate. Statements like this are why America is in such a slump. Jeep is now owned by Fiat which means it is Italian!!! I have lived in Italy and drove many Italian cars...not a great experince!

here, if you can, read this...

How do you tell which car is more American? - USATODAY.com

maybe you'll learn something...

My Wrangler is my first "US labeled" vehicle I have owned since my 71 Nova in High School (that was over 20 years ago).....and why? because I dont believe in welfare or paying a US based auto industry that produces crap. I put my money where it will do the best for me....Toyota Tacoma? NEVER 1 issue in any of my years owning them.....

I will admit that I purchased this Wrangler more out of liking the look than the reliability.. and I was really leaning towards the FJ..the new engine was the only thing that put it over the FJ.......... The Wrangler has great resale, and both me and my wife have great careers that can afford to put some money into our cars (although she will stick with the 4Runner...again never any issues) ...so I went out on a limb and thought I will support this "historic US Name"

......but is actually a Italian Owned......so please put a sign on your own jeep that says: "move to Italy if you want a Wop trap"....dumbass
