Buying 2012 Rubucon

I wish trying to buy a 2012 Rubicon was not such a burden. Just give me your best price already.

Anyway using the 2012 Configuration my build your own comes to $36,895 MSRP. So far the best deal I have is $1500 off. I do not think that is good enough. Thinking more like $34,000 for what I want here.

Anyone know of dealers in the NH, MA, VT area that will just not run me around? I have all the invoice pricing etc. What are they thinking.

Thanks for any input.

Thanks Tom, I did join Treadlightly and am in the process of sending out a .pdf file of my 2012 Configuration to a few local dealers asking for best price. Hoping to find one that figures I half way know what's going on and just sends me the best price.

My '12 stickered at 36,955. DaveDennis (dayton, oh) sold it to me or 33,700. Real easy. Ask for TheBaldGuy, he will give you a similar deal.

Think I am going to try an offer of 33,900 with some of the locals and see where I get. At 36,895 MSRP that should fly in my book.

A.e.

Give American Express a look. It is different with each zip code. Some people find a good price.American Express | Car Buying Home Page
Good luck.

Honestly instead of making up a number you should get invoice for vehicle how you have built. That's avail on this site. From there take 1% off. That price is max you will pay. But with a little friendly negotiating you can easily get 2% below invoice.

But working with real numbers much easier and efficient than a guess of what you feel is fair. That way it's realistic, dealers more apt to work with you, and you're not asking to much or to little.

Just my $0.02

So it's common for dealers to be talked down to at least invoice price without anything like treadlightly? MSRP is just for suckers?

Anyone try Drive your Dream? Any catches? In my area the prices on the site look good, in fact better than 2% below invoice according to the print out. I didn't fill out the contact the dealer part though.......

Most times, MSRP *is* just for suckers. If suckers can be defined by going to one dealership and buying a vehicle without doing any prior planning and research. Such a person will get robbed in the front end, back end, upside down and sideways.

And he'll walk out smiling.

Usually, yes.

Some products that are high demand are diff. I sold cars when Pontiac Solstice first launched. I sold 9 in two months and best deal I gave was $2,000 above sticker. And I was giving best deal in my city. Other Pontiac dealership in same city were worse.

But for 98% of vehicles on road invoice can be attained thru you not being an ass and the dealership willing to work.

Tl, supplier, etc are ways to get below invoice with little to no negotiation.

If Drive Your Dream 2012 price for a 2 door Rubi is correct its a good deal in my area. I wonder if the dealers that participate actually will honor the price the site shows?

It is the same as the American Express price (Zag). I have had an AE Card for 30+ years and had never heard of the program, a man i was meeting with said he had used it and had no problems. He was not buying a jeep though. Probably it will depend on the dealer. The AE site says the dealer MUST give you the price.
I am waiting for a CD to mature before I get a 2012, but I will probably give them a try. If it doesn't work I have already got the Tread Lightly#.

Cheers

Is there any fees or requirements to buy through "Drive Your Dream"? I couldn't find any. If the dealers they list actually participate, and the pricing is on the up and up, it looks good. Certainly an option.

I filled it out and it sent it off to three local dealers through their online interface so I'll wait and see the response. One thing it did mention was 'it stock' so not sure how it would work out for a special order.

Going to try and be patient and work with dealers this week to see if I can get at least 1% below invoice for a special order. Also have the Tread Lightly discount program to try.

Really hoping to strike a deal and get it all rolling this week.

I'd be interested in how you make out. For the dealer there is more money in an order than a stock vehicle in his inventory, especially this early in the MY. Ordered vehicles aren't costing him any money until the car comes in, where as inventory is on his floor plan, costing him. Typically within a few days of the dealer getting your order in, its PIF and out the door. If they use DYD for orders it would be nice. Nothing ventured nothing gained, all they can do is say no. Good luck!

You are working way too hard and don't need to haggle unless this is "fun" to you. Tread Lightly-1% below-everyone happy-done. It's as simple as that. If you want to try to get an extra 1% or about $300-350 off, and that's really important to you-go for it.

You will have to find a hungry dealer or wait a while. There is no incentive for a dealer to offer you a great deal on a 2012 if he has 2011's sitting around. I love to haggle and the best I could do was 1k off MSRP on a fully loaded 2012 Unlimited Rubicon. But hey, I am the first kid on the block with one

Oh and btw, this thing is everything Jeep promised it would be, so popularity will definitely play in here with trade in's if you wait too long.....

Guys...I kust picked up my 2012 Unlimited Rubicon with leather, dual tops, 730 Nav, connectivity package for $36,400. I am a member of Tread Lightly, but it didn't do a whole lot. The sticker was $39,480. The dealer gave me their in-house discount over the phone and I bought it on the spot.

I just ordered a JKU Sahara from Metro Jeep in RI for the FFP price. No questions asked. I have an affiliate number (similar to TL disc) if they wanted, but they never even asked for it.

I called a number of MA dealers with limited response. Premiere Motors from Hyannis was also promising.

Try them.

Yep you are right.
Done deal at Bonneville in Manchester NH today. Invoice less 1% plus dealer fees were low. Last dealer tried for like $600 in dealer fees of some sort. Anyway all is good and now waiting which is worth it. Looking forward to the new Rubicon.

Thanks all for advice.
