Been looking for my 1st Jeep purchase for a while now, and going to see one that already has some mods. Lift, wheels, not sure what else. Here is a link for reference.
It is certified pre owned, so parts would be covered for a certain amount of time. If I bought stock vehicle, would want to do most of the same type of upgrades. But, when you don't know anything about the install, history, etc, is that a bad call?

Definitely test drive it first. You might like how it drives but you might not. The tires look like 35's which some folks like to daily drive and some don't. MPG will probably be under 15 if that matters to you. It wouldn't matter to most of us.
Find out which lift it has and post it here. There is a lot of experienced owners who can tell you the pros and cons.
Yup. Also find out the gear ratio. 3.21 gears would not be good with this set up. Some people only regear the back axle and then sell it. Seen it a few times on this forum.
The bigger tires will put more stress on the suspension components so make sure they are in good shape. But the trade off is an awesome looking rig.
The comments say "towing package" so not sure if that includes 3.73 or not. Is there a way to be sure when I see it?
Is it bad protocol to ask it be looked at by a local shop and confirm the shape it's in? Not 100% sure what I'd be looking for to confirm it's in "good shape"...

No, not at all—and if they challenge your choice to do so, run.
Personally, I do not recommend a used modified Jeep, especially to a first timer. The reason is that people on cheap lifts, incomplete and using inferior components, that degrade the ride quality and could potentially compromise safety. I have a friend who is younger and out a used lifted Jeep on the spot, without consulting any of his Jeeper friends—ended up being a nightmare for him after his first death wobble experience. He fixed the problem best he could, and traded it in a truck. I bet he didn't have it six months, and it totally soured his taste for a Jeep. Maybe I'm over reacting or being too cautious, but I would stay away from a lifted used Jeep personally, unless I knew it was done right with a quality kit.

All really good to know, thanks! Build sheet helpful as well.
I hadn't thought about that with dealers usually showing off name brand parts, but it's true.
I'll keep all in mind!
