Buying a New 2008 Wrangler X..Have a few Questions

Hi guys, I'm new here and I'm just getting into the whole Jeep Scene. I've decided to trade my '05 Civic that only has 22,000 miles on it for a '08 Wrangler Unlimited X. I fell in love with the way the 4 door jeep looks so I decided to get one. As soon as I get it I want to starts the mods right away. The 1st thing I'm going to do to it is to paint the Hardtop, Mirrors, Fenders & Bumper to match the rest of the car. ( I'm going to get the White Jeep). My question is will this paint match well. I guess because of it being plastic and what not compared to metal. Also what do you guys think about this idea of getting this stuff painted? Do you think it will look neat. I think it will really make the Jeep stand out. I'm also going to get the windows tinted & probably put either 20" or 22" rims on it later on. I'm not going for the rocking climbing trail driving look. I'm going more for the stand-out, flashy look. I want it to look tasteful though, not tacky. Please let me know what you guys think!!! Thanks so much.

Welcome to the forum.

I don't know how well you can match the paint with something that will be suitable for plastics. We generally use krylon fusion to paint flares and other plastic parts. Matching a spray can color to the original color of your jeep might be a problem. You could always check with a body shop and see what they say.

You can certainly find a way to do what you want to your jeep to get the look you want. Our opinion may be different since a lot of us are more offroad and utility oriented. It's your jeep if you buy it. Do what you want to it.

yea I'm not going to paint it myself. I just meant I want to do it (not actually me). I going to look into the local body shops to see how much it would cost.

with 22" inch rims you could run 44 inch boggers now that would be SWEET and stand out!!!
j/k Welcome to the Forum, hope we can hlep, but i dont think many people here are experts on how big of a rim you can mount per tires size, we just stick with 15x8's here usually

A Sahara comes with matching painted fenders.

But it sounds like you are looking for bling.. I a word I hate, but never the less. Hummer H3s are more bling than function right out of the box and by the time you add all the stuff to a JK you could buy and H3.

Since you asked what people think, I am sure you will not find many that are fond of the 20-22" rims. You could get by with this crowd if you went with 20s & 37" tires, but I doubt you are going that route. Are you getting a 2wd?

If you do not plan on wheeling your wrangler, I would suggest getting the 2wd and doing what you want with it. I dont think there are any 2wd wrangler owners on this board. Report back what you decide to do.

20" or 22"???

Ummmm, yea. I would roll with the 33-37' tires. But hey, to each his own. Are you going to get the rims that spin?
Jeep; There's only one.

I like the looks of painted hardtops, but i'd stay away from the fenders and bumpers... the bumpers look like crap when painted, and the fenders will help tie the front and rear bumpers into the look of the jeep... especially with the contrast of the white w/ black.
