Buying an used 2012 2-dr

Hello dear friends!

I'm from Brazil and I'm about to buy my first 4x4: a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport 2- door A/T.
Since here in my country, the price is outrageous (something like 70k dollars), I am looking for an used one.
I found one with 2000 miles on it. Since I had never had a 4x4, what must I take attention for when I'm evaluating it? Is it possible to damage the transmission, clutch or engine with bad use, even with such a short mileage?

Thank you guys!

Marcio

My question is WHY is it for sale again after only 2000 miles, or was it a demo and just a left over they are trying to get rid of now that the 13's are out?

Really? Just because of the automatic transmission? There is no manual here in Brazil... There is only 2 versions available from Jeep dealers:
- Sport automatic
- Unlimited Sport automatic

A base 2 door sport?

Two major questins...

Does it have 3.73's?
And more importantly...
Does it have AC!?!?

Well, I can ask, but the truth I will never know. The seller says it was not the kind of car he was expecting... Who knows? Maybe he drowned it... Maybe he used on a rally race... Maybe he crashed it... My dilema is: a brand new for 70k dollars or this one with 2000 miles for 55k dollars. Which one would you buy?

I feel like it would be cheaper to buy one from the states and have it shipped down to you. Then you could get a manual or rubicon

Panthermark,

Well, I don't know if it comes with 3.73 in it. I know it's stock 5-speed auto with stock tires in it. By AC you mean air conditioner? Yes.

Well, this is Brazil. 70k USD for a brand new 2012/2012 Sport Auto and 75k USD for the Unlimited Sport version. The used one i found is 55k USD for a 2011/2012 Sport Auto with 2000 miles.

Everything is ridiculously expensive here. That's because of the taxes to feed the hungry politicians!

Import duties, taxes, shipping costs, and regulatory fees will destroy that. Any vehicle he buys must meet Brazilian vehicular laws, regulations, and standards.

Try to buy a Diesel Jeep or any other vehicle not sold in the U.S., but sold elsewhere in the world, and ask how much a gray market importer charges to bring it into compliance, if it is even possible. Huge amounts of money are involved that can easily double, triple, or quadruple the original MSRP.

Can you hire an independent auto technician to professionally evaluate it? The price is worth the reassurance.

buy used jeep

hi, if you can save $15,000 wilh 2000 miles then I would go with the used
and keep the $15,000 in the bank, a jeep with 2000 miles on it is under factory
warranty and the local dealer will service it for free up to 36,000 miles the only
item you shoulld have is the oil changes. good luck I will sell you my jeep any
time and I also have 2000 miles on it, and it is perfecto... :-))

yes

hi again, I would have your jeep evaluated or have a local jeep dealer
check it out, the jeep dealers have a 21 point inspection for a small fee, also
on a additional note in Miami Florida there are dealers which sell the export
jeep and with the diesel, the information can be found on your computer..
good luck with your purchase..

Are you quoting that price in Brazilian Real or American Dollars? Cuz Real/Dollars is about 2/1 right now. You said dollars, so I'm assuming American, but just checking. And is that a typical price for a vehicle in Brazil?

It's hard to answer your question without some basis of knowledge by which to compare...

#1.

look inside the door for the production date. Anything from manufactured in 2011 run.

To get the ticker fixed down there one can only imagine.

You'll see a sticker on the door with all the data of the vehicle.

Don't touch it if manf. date is in 2011. It would take ages to get the parts down there, since it takes people around the corner from the factory months to get it rectified.

Guys,

Thank you so much for all your posts! I'm very surprised with you! I couldn't imagine you were so helpful! I'm really grateful!

Yes, the prices I told here is converted to US dollars. Here in my country, the cars costs around 3 times more than in US. Crazy, uh? A basic Grand Cherokee can be yours in Brazil for only 90 thousand USD!!

The best deal I found was that Wrangler manufactured in 2011, model 2012 with pentastar, for about 55 thousand USD. But sorry, I didn't understand when you told me about running if it is a vehicle manufactured in 2011... Is there any recall or known problems with them?
