Cab Covers....

So it is getting near that time of the year when i like to take my top and doors off. The only problem is my Jeep is parked outside and we seem to have those constant afternoon showers. So it gets to the point where I leave the top and doors on because of these little showers I was thinking of getting a cab cover from Quadratec. Cab covers seem to really vary I in price I originally was thinking

The Bestop one. (it is Bestop I know it is nice)
Bestop 81041-09 - Bestop® All Weather Trail Cover in Charcoal for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door - Quadratec
Then I saw this one from Covercraft
Covercraft CO16790PG - Covercraft WeatherShield Quick Cover for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door - Quadratec

The Covercraft one says it is made of breathable material which sounds like a big plus. If for some reason I didn't get it on before one of the quick showers it would let any moisture that got in, out..

I haven't heard much about Covercraft before and the price is a big difference. Has anyone bought either of these and what do they think. I just want some feedback before I make my decision.

Hey! I'm in Jax too. No Jeep yet, but ordering soon.

I was looking at these earlier today because you are right - those showers are inevitable here. Have you looked at the Pavement Ends Emergency Top? It's only $100, no door coverage from what I can tell, but will at least let you drive it still. I think that's the route we will go this Summer.

Edit: It's $100 at Quadratec now. Here's the link http://www.quadratec.com/products/11174_0042_07.htm

Bestop FTW.... Breatheable to me means it's also gonna let water in, but Idk. I have a Bestop and it's 10y/o and it's still practically like new. Keeps things nice and dry, and pollen/dew/critter free...

I have both the Trail cover and the cab cover. The cab cover is great for when you have the top up with windows out. If you use it on a topless jeep, it has deep pockets for collecting rain and there is no way to take it off without you and your interior getting wet. It also does not cover the door openings so any wind driven rain will get to your interior.

The trail cover can only be used with the top off/down. It has a really tight fit and as Linda stated above, it keeps everything out of your Jeep. I wish that I had purchased the Trail cover first.

I called and asked about the Pavement Ends Emergency Top, and the sales rep on the phone explicitly told me that the top will not hold up to driving. He said I might get up to 5 mph or so before it tore and shredded itself to pieces.

And that was the salesman trying to sell me one.

The Bestop trail cover is definitely the way to go.

Interesting. There are posts on this forum and another I frequent that claimed to drive up to 45-55 mph on multiple occasions with it and it's still in new condition. It seems like a great concept. The cab cover seems silly for me at least... Cover the jeep and you can't go anywhere?

That is exactly what I am looking for I have a soft top and bikini top with a duster(even with doors on bikini does not keep rain out)... I am not looking for another top I am looking for something just to keep the elements out with out having to put the top and doors back on.

I have a 4dr Sahara so the doors are a little bit of a pain to try and be putting on quickly before a quick storm. Especially when it last 30 minutes clears up and it is beautiful the rest of the day.

Aha - then it sounds like you found what you need.

I'm getting the hard top so was focused on alternatives to the dual top or another after-market soft top. We used to try to avoid rainy days when we rode our motorcycles here and at least 2-3 times a year we'd get caught in a downpour when there was only a 10% chance of rain, so the backup plan is definitely needed here.
