Calibrating my compass

Is there a way to calibrate my dash compass in my 07 Rubicon? Seems no matter what direction I am facing it says E or SE.

Thanks

It should be listed in your owner's manual.

Question for you! Are you laying your Cell Phone on top of the Dash Console, above the Radio?

I ask, because, I have a Daystar Dash Tray on mine. If I lay my Cell Phone on there, my Compass always points West. If I remove my Phone, and put it in my pocket, full Compass Function returns.

Best of Luck!

Cheers!

The manual will tell you how to get into calibrate mode, then you drive in circles and hope it works. I've tried resetting mine and it does not calibrate. Maybe I put the compass in flipped around when I installed the Day Star Dash? I would not think that would make a difference. Anybody??

I thought I put it in up side down also, but it seemed like it would only go one way. I will look at it today when the wife gets home from work with it.

If the Day Star Dash is metal and it is magnetized at all, this will have an effect on your compass. Try degaussing the Day Star Dash if it is made of metal.

Other things that can have an effect on the compass are wires running heavy electrical current through them will form magnetic lines of force around the wire and thus cause an effect on a compass. Move the wire away from the compass. When the wire no longer conducts current (as in the unit it is attached to is off) the effect on the compass will disappear.

Curious about what you found out. I think it would be easier to put the compass in front to back than upside down.

Last week I finally had time to take the dash cover off and looked at the compass. It will only go in one way and there were no obstructions. I re-installed everything then went to a big parking lot close to my house, and followed the direstions per the owners manual on calibrating the compass. It worked great and shows proper direction now!

Thanks for all the help

????????? Um, I don't think the radio has anything to do with it.

I have the standard radio and still have the compass. It is digital, try pressing the little black buttons on your dash under the guages......
