jeep has tried to fix 4 times...sometimes can't get into reverse...now goes into reverse but feels like emergency brake is on..big clunk when starting from stop..when accelerating sometime slips...jeep is saying the tires may be responsible and not their problem...but keeps on happening even just days after they 'fix'...

Well, it's 20-30 lbs more weight per tire, so it can't be great for it...especially over time.

I would fight them on that...Jeeps are marketed as offroad vehicles and modding them comes with the territory...secondly I am sure you can find hundreds if not thousands of ppl with 35's...including myself who have no transmission issues.

We need a lot more info than this to help. 35s won't wreak your transmission, it sounds much more likely there is a problem else where in there.

Uh oh. I've heard of this exact thing before...

Do have a teenager in the house?

Did you leave town right before the tansmission went kaput?

Was there a spare Jeep key hidden in the house when you left town?

Did the jeep have a faint burnt tire smell poorly disguised in fabreeze when you got back?

If you answerd yes to any of these questions I know what exactly happened to your JK.

Your symptoms sound a lot like somebody was attempting to do burnouts. Read this thread: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/ser...em-182102.html

It's probably just your jeep trying to kill its self because of the big ass rims

i got a better question.

Maybe you guys can just get your transmission rebuilt or Chrysler can just issue you a brand new one because your tires and wheels have no impact on your transmission?

Like said before. Wheels and tires won't hurt the transmission

Sounds like the transmission has been neutral dropped :no no:

Neutral drop: the act of revving an engine in neutral and slamming it in drive in order to look trashy and burn out

You say they fix it temporarily, but don't tell us what they find when they look at it and what they are they doing to make the problem go away (for a few days).

Neutral drops.

Putting the tranny in neutral, revving the engine to above 2,500 rpm, then slamming the shift lever into drive.

This can be done to a manual tranny as well.

It will fry internal parts, bearings, gears, modules, and can cause a tranny to literally 'grenade' if the RPM is high enough and the tranny cannot handle the instantly applied force.

The OP knows his/her child and their disciplinary history. A reasonable parent knows how to handle it.
