Can the Interior Take Heavy Rain?

Can't the JK with all it's electronics, stereo, steering wheel buttons, etc, handle long term exposure to heavy rain when the top is off?

The CJ days are gone. Make certain the JK wears a top.

I like to keep my Jeep ready with the top down, trail doors on and just a light cover. The carpets have been soaked twice and I've become a bit of a weather worrier.

The CJ days of the floor rot being the biggest concern are over, I'm afraid.

The only thing water proof in your Jeep is you.

Ummmm.....I pressure wash my interior when it gets muddy....no issues after 4+ years. I'd go ahead and say a little rain isn't going to hurt anything.

The JK is as waterproof as a minivan. The interior is basically the same as a Town and Country. I would do my best to avoid water exposure!

Water and electronics don't mix. And there's a whole hell of a lot of that stuff behind the dash.

my assumtion is that I don't want it to sit out in an Alabama thunderstorm with the top off

since they are hard to predict up here in the valley, if the forecast has 30% or greater, I leave the top up and run that new-fangled "air conditioning"

and i carry a bestop trail top unless we're in a dry spell, and those are rare right now

I left my top off my 12 Rubi overnight during vacation and woke up the next morning with 2 inches of water inside. One of the radio button light shorted out that was about it. I would HIGHLY not recommend mixing electronics and water. Lickily they still put drain plugs all over the vehicle, DONT forget the one in the jack area in the rear.

No, it isn't meant to take heavy rain.

The dash is you concern, with the biggest issue being the clock spring in the steering column.

You can do this with a Polaris Ranger UTV, but not a JK!

Thanks. I used to leave my 73 CJ and 91 YJ topless - neither had any optional equipment. They worked fine.

Guess I better stick with the top on my new gen Jeep... Rains here more days per year than it doesn't.

^This. It's really the dash that's the issue.

My carpets are out, floor is now bedlined, and they make waterproof seat covers. So all of that would be good-to-go. But the steering wheel column is exposed, and your stereo unit is not marine grade.

I am not here to disagree with you guys, but my JK has seen a bazillion gallons of water from the hevans (and thousands from below!), and I have had zero issues with the electronics. Well, one time after a full montey pressure washing session my dash speakers sounded blown. But a day later all was back to normal. Had mud caked on litterally everything-mudding without top or doors. Drive in rain often for years. I personally wouldn't sweat it, but it is your Jeep!
