Can this marriage be saved?

Mr Piper and I bought 90 YJ that is a very nicely done technical Jeep, one of the mods (along with a 3.5 Dick Cepek Lift) is a light bar above the windshield, I think its over done and asked my husband to remove it, we don't wheel at night. He likes it. Among other mods it has rack over the spare with jerry cans, big back wrangler decal along the hood, CB radio and other stuff located in an overhead console, 33" tires with appropriate changes to the gears, chrome wheels, air lockers, and an elaborate tuff box storage system in the back with no seat. It just looks too fussy with that light bar, just too much stuff. Please don't kick me to the YJ Forum or get grumpy please? I'm a noob with real girl feelings and I know most of my questions are.

Piper

You're welcome here Piper! Your question is not lame. Light bars are a matter of taste. Can you share some pics of the YJ with us? I guarantee you will get a ton of people who love it and a ton who hate it. Hopefully some will give some reasons why that you may find useful.

The only solution is to buy my Pre-Runner light bar that's posted in the For Sale forum. It looks good so you'll be happy and you retain your lights and keep your hubby happy.

Its your jeep, if you don't like it change it, if you do keep it. I personally would keep everything on it, because there is no way a 90 yj is your daily driver, sounds like a trail rig and is definitely built for one, keep it that way.

Yes, I believe your marriage can be saved. You know how boys are with their toys.... Let him leave it for a while, chances are good either he'll tire of it and remove it (thinking it's his idea) or you'll learn to like it ok as is, or you'll "accidentally" bash it into the overhead thing in the parking garage one day going over a speed bump... In any case, if it was me, I'd quit fussing about it, so when it does come down he doesn't hold it against you forever.... (how do I know this?) If it looks as overdone as you think it does, one of his wheeling buddies will start razzing him about it, and he'll decide to change it..

Few key points.. you bought the jeep together correct? Then I would tell him that his light bar is mounted to your windshield frame and it needs to go. On his side, does he like it perhaps as its period correct for a 1990 Yj to have such a light bar?

X 2 Infernogirl!

Although, I like light bars. Its on my "wish list" after the necessities. Though, there are some out there that look kinda lame. I am still deciding on the right one myself.

Go get the JC Whitney catalog, and start flagging all the pink shiny bits. Make a "wish list" that includes hello Kitty decals. Then start negotiating.

Mr Piper here. Here is an old picture that illustrates the sturdy studly light bar in action, and looks so RIGHT on our YJ.

Ok, Mr. Piper, I'm gonna play Devils advocate here... If you want to quiet her down, take her night wheeling, don't use the lights till she gripes about not being able to see the cliff you're about to drive off of..... That should work

I can not think of a single flaw in that plan.

First mistake: Letting Mr. Piper read the post that gave you all the ways to manipulate him into doing what you want. You are now officially screwed.

Second mistake: Allowing him to post a pic of a beast like that in full action.

There is NO way any of us could question whatever is on that Jeep. That rig has a mind of its own. Let IT decide.
