Can you modify Rugged Ridge Billet Grille Inserts to fit Mopar Hood Lock?

Does anyone know if it's possible to modify one of these inserts to fit with the Mopar Hood Lock?

I don't have the rugged Ridge, but it's my belief anything can be done with the right tools. I have the mopar hood lock and made my own grill insert I just used a dremel, cut it out, sanded it down, then painted the bare metal

I have those same inserts (btw, check Amazon....they're a LOT cheaper there!) & was wondering the same thing....not sure I would want to 'interrupt' the look of the inserts, though.

Yours looks great! I do like the look of the black border on the ones I referred to. If I were to make a cut out for the lock it appears that the vertical inserts may not have anywhere to grab onto and just dangle.

Check out this thread.

I do not have the billet insert, but I did modify the Rugged Ridge mesh insert to use with my Mopar hood lock (as have others).

Yes, thanks I saw that thread. Would like to go with the billet insert if possible.

Well, I received the inserts. The only way I could think to modify the center one to fit with the hood lock is cut around the plastic insert around the lock, then drill a small hole in each side of the grill and through the insert, then secure it to the grille with a zip tie through each.

The aluminum billet grille centers are more difficult. First need to cut them even with the lock, then glue a piece across the billets to hold them in place. And, then figure out a way to secure them to the insert.

Although I really like the look of the inserts, I just hate the idea of drilling into the grille. I think it may be better to just mount a full mesh screen in the back and cut around the lock like most of you have done.

Any other ideas to get these inserts to work?

Keep in mind that many of the mesh inserts also require you to drill a couple small holes into the grill. I was leery at first, but the holes needed to secure the Rugged Ridge mesh are pretty small and out of the way; I presume most of the other inserts would be similar.

Granted, you could also go the DYI approach and use mesh bought from Hope Depot and secure it to the grill with epoxy / zip ties / something else, but do not let the fear of drilling a couple small holes limit your options.

With this one I'd have to drill into the center slot on the side of the grill. If I were ever to remove the insert, the hole would be visible and could also get deformed from the zip tie pulling on it. I think I need to sleep on this one!

After sleeping on it, I decided to return the billet inserts and go for a one piece screen and trim around the lock as others have done. My thought is that the center slot may not look very good since the billets would stick out in front of the lock.
