Hey Tom...

That's flattering, but maybe not the best choice you ever made!

I'm no sound expert, but, I tell you what: I just listened to Roscoe Holcomb's a capella version of 'Man Of Constant Sorrow,' and was completely blown away! Scary clear, pure sound reproduction! Don't know if it has anything to do with the poly-fill, but, it sure didn't hurt!

Just found this thread. I have the stock system that came with the 08's. Is this worth the time? I noticed that very little seems to actually come out of the "sound bar". I don't have the rear sub, so I am living on just the dash and soundbar alone.

Thanks!

Gluestick, give it a go, I would say it would improve it. I don't have sub either, and all stock, except for polks in soundbar.

I'm a little late to this party... just as simple as unscrewing speakers, stuffing in polyfill, then replacing speakers?

I have done this to my soundbar as well. I have done this for years in different sub boxes and didnt even think to post it up here to share the wealth of info. Shame on me! I am putting myself into time out, I will be sitting in the corner for a while...

I did this on my Tj. Made a world of difference. Takes out the hollowness.
I've heard of the dash being done also.

First take out those crap 4x6 and buy (or make) an adapter to change them to 5 1/4 speakers then add these speaker baffles for up front like the ones in this link
Amazon.com: DEI 050320 Boom Mat 5.25" Round Speaker Baffle - Pack of 2: Automotive

This is tThe only option for giving them better sound. Best of luck!

Jk does not have 4x6, All 6.5 I believe.
The front surprisingly sounds decent with the separate tweeters on the dash.

There I go again posting in a jk forum >< oops lol anyways Im not sure how the speakers are mounted in the front of the JK but if there isnt any kind of enclosure or anything to separate the rear of the speaker from the front of the speaker, you could still use the baffle, just get it in a 6.5.

I used a 4" component in the Tj

I stuffed couch cushion foam all around the speaker since there is no room for a baffle... Worked spectacular

Doing this mod today. Also if anyone in North NJ (Bergen) county wants to do this today let me know. I own a shop that uses pillow stuffing and I buy it wholesale so I have tons of it. I'll start on it early this afternoon if anyone else is interested. I got the poly fil covered.

I just stuffed the sound bar and the woofer and it's night/day difference! I would say it;s a huge upgrade for the overall time and cost. The whole ting took me about 1/2 hour. size 10 torx for the sound bar and torx 20 for the rear sub.

Awwwh, awesome, it is amazing, such a cheapo upgrade changes the sound characteristics completely!

Well sort of, what you want to use is the pillow stuffing, so what's inside the pillow. Once you get the pillow stuffing which is a white fluffy synthetic strings. Take the speaker out of the sound bat with a number 10 torx bit or driver. Once it's out fill up all voids inside the bar. Do not stuff the area the speaker sits in since you need room for it to go back. Then just repeat on the other side. It's real quick but I have a huge bag of pillow stuffing so I'm not dealing with the pillow end of it.

That's pretty much what poly fill is. For making pillows.
