So many people are so addicted to power everything from power windows to cell phones to escalators. Yet, every last one of us wipes their rear the same way our ancestors did, only with toilet paper thankfully!

I have a theory that if the electricity grid shut off for a year all across the country that about 5-10% of the population would just roll over and die from gadget withdrawal.

Manual windows, locks, and transmission: love it.

In the early 1960's our family vehicle was an OLD Jeep. I was just 3-5 years old. My 'job' was to work the hand-operated windshield wiper on the passenger side so my mom could see. The driver's side had a vacuum operated wiper.

In my view, all that automatic fancy stuff just makes people soft. ;-)

If it is nice enough to have the windows down the doors should be off.

Love them on my Grand Cherokee Limited with power everything , leather, wood grain etc. Did have to replace one of the PW assemblies though (~$400). My 09 JKU ragtop is a different beast though - no need for power anything.

lol, I didn't expect the jeep I was look at to have them, I also expect every jeep I get into not to be equipped with them. doesn't bother me either way, I prefer manual everything in a jeep.

When I bought my 08 JKU I was surprised that it had manual windows, but now I'd have it no other way. I get into my Gfs car which is electric everything and I don't know what to do! Why have all that extra stuff to break on the trail?

I have power windows and locks, but I think being able having manual's as an option is awesome. Is there any other vehicle that still allows you to have manual window cranks?

I specifically bought one without the power package. I was concerned for about a day that I might miss the power windows or locks. I haven't missed them yet.

Or the automatic tranny for that matter.

I ordered mine without power locks or windows. All my previous vehicles had power windows and both had failures at some point during ownership. So when the time came to order I knew I was going crack windows. Six months later and I don't miss them at all. I could see crack windows getting old in a four door, but in my two door it's so easy to lean over and unroll it. I'm glad it's still a option. It'd be nice to see carpets be a option and come bedlined instead.

With my old Jeep that didn't have power windows for those that inquired, I usually like to play a little role reversal.

"Why don't you have power windows?"

Me "What's that?"

Hopefully he will understand why when he goes riding with you in the summer with no doors and no top and you get caught in the rain. If he doesn't, kick him out, tell him to walk home, and never give him a ride in your jeep again!

In the JK my "GOOD JEEP", the PW and PL came with it. I bought what was on the lot at the price point that seemed to match my budget. When the JK, becomes a trail rig than I will worry about the PL and PW, but by than I should be able to find some half doors some where.

I like my half doors in my TJ....just a zipper to work with or a slider.

None. Just something that needs to be unplugged to get the door off.

As far as I'm concerned if I don't have all that power stuff, then I don't have to have one of those expensive keys.

I have a base model 08 JKU with hand crank windows. My friends think I've lost my mind. I guess it's because my last vehicle was a 04 BMW 330 ci convertible. I love my Jeep and have always wanted one but knew I couldn't have all the luxury of the Beemer if I wanted to go off road. Too much to go wrong.

Manual windows, locks and mirrors as well and like many of you I wanted my Jeep with these features. My last two daily drivers power windows crapped out, one I had to take the door apart raise the window and stick a bolt under it so it would'nt fall back into the door. The same car had power locks that would sometimes lock on their own when the keys were in the ignition and I was outside the car scraping ice off the windows. Everyone I know love the simplicity of my manual crank windows, most haven't seen that feature in years!...lol

...the new American mantra: 'Give me convenience or give me death'.

...specifically ordered the 2010 'Rat Patrol' stripped down with only AC and cruise control.

...on another note...my brother-in-law just picked up a 2012 JKU and when I popped the hood there was another hood! whats up with that?

There must be a power switch somewhere to lift the engine baffle thingy.

Kidding
