Pretty sure that nearly any double DIN unit will work, and the Pioneer units are popular here. Plenty of info on this forum if you use the search function.
I have used the Alpine ILX-007 the Pioneer AppRadio 4 .. both work fine in a Wrangler. Really depends if you want JUST CarPlay or if you want other functionality (DVD, Nav etc...). Personally, I just wanted CarPlay.
In both cases, I also replaced the 12V outlet with dual-USBs and wired one of them to the headhunt.
The announce-but-not-shipping Alpine ILX-107 has wireless CarPlay which looks interesting.
I just installed a Pioneer 5200 in our 17 JKU Sahara to replace the basic 130. Has Car Play, plus built-in GPS nav. Used the basic PAC interface from Crutchfield (not the Maestro unit), which allowed me to retain all of the standard steering wheel audio controls. Very happy with it. Really brings the Alpine speaker system to life.
I have the Alpine iLX-107 on order (delayed a couple months already). I think it is the same as the iLX-007 but with wireless connection to the iphone. To me it seems redundant to have navigation, etc built in when you get all of that from CarPlay and no need to switch back and forth. My assumption also is that not making tradeoffs for DVD hardware, satellite, navigation, etc. it will be the best possible CarPlay experience.
I haven't installed yet but from what I understand no external (visible) dash cutting is required for the installation.
Pioneer 4200NEX fits fine with no cutting in mine. Replaced a 130 as well. Very nice upgrade!
