Cargo Nets

I was looking to purchase a cargo net to keep my dogs inside the jeep when the top is off. I'm trying to decide between the cargo nets made by Motion-Tek or Safari Straps.

I was leaning toward the side and rear window set made by Motion-Tek.

Motion-Tek.com : Product : Rear & Side Window Set, JK 4Dr, Exp Series

Anyone know how the two compare to each other?

Thanks

FWIW I just received the Motion-Tek side and top/rear net for my LJ. I haven't installed it yet but the quality is bad ass. This is not just for looks. The straps will definitely hold people/cargo inside in the event of a roll or flop. Also ... Made in the USA.

Why not dirty dog? Thats what I have I went with them over safari straps as the squares are just a little smaller. I can't speak to the quality of the other company your referencing as I have never seen them in person...
I looked at Dirty Dog. They appear to be over $300 as opposed to Motion Tek ($289) and Safari Straps, which is a few dollars more and needs a tailgate bar. Both Motion Tek and Safari Straps appear to be made the same with heavy duty METAL buckles whereas Dirty Dog looks to use those plastic buckles. I've got some neoprene seat covers with the same type of (smaller) plastic buckles and several are broken already. AS far as the size of the holes, it's really no issue for my needs. Neither my kids nor my german shepherd are going to fly out through any of the different size holes.

In the end, the main selling point for me was the buckles. It's hard to tell for sure from the Dirty Dog site as their pics are very small and I didn't see any mention of buckle construction, but they appear to be plastic. And, they are the most expensive.

Safari Straps. I just received mine today and the quality is perfect!! I bought a set to keep my dog from being ejected. I went with the extended cage that will give him a net roof. I don't run doorless with him in the backseat so he will basically have a cage around him especially if I get a divider between front and rear seats.

The Motion-Tek don't seem to need a tailgate bar like the Safari Straps. I have a soft top now so a tailgate bar isn't a problem.

The motion tek buckles looked like the ones that have a tab on them. tab open slide strap tab closed strap held. I don't like those as they tend to slide. I also didn't like how the motion tek install in the back. You have to drill some holes and they have small screws holding the tie down in.
The reason I liked the smaller holes is because I didn't want my black lab putting her head through them and getting caught.
They each have pros and cons but I like that the dirty dog are individual pieces so if you put you top back on and just want to remove the back piece you can. I like the idea of leaving the top pieces on as I can tuck stuff up there between the top and the straps but I also like to be able to access the back.
Anyway good luck with you choice!

This is not correct. ALL straps secure with buckles. The rear 2 horizontal straps closest to the tailgate secure with hooks that hook under the lip at the top of the tub. No drilling or screws of any kind.

I noticed this is the JK forum and I have a LJ. I'll have to check out my wife's JK to see if there is any screws or drilling on a JK. That would be unfortunate being that the TJs don't require it. Good input though, I learned something.
