Plus I have the bonus of a normal trailer to use.

Trailer sits level when towed behind my jeep. No need to spend money on big tyres for your trailer. All drive comes from your car, trailer wheels only get dragged. My trailer makes it to the same places as those who have big wheels and expensive suspension. As I was told keep it simple stupid ( KISS )

I'm not keen on paying $8k on an "expedition trailer". I could just tow a used car behind it for that price.

Haha Yeah I have seen guys cut the backend off an old truck and make a trailer that probably wouldn't be to bad especially off and old ranger or whatever you could find in a junk yard

There is also an old army trailer for sale sitting on top of a semi trailer on highway 84/285 near Buffalo Thunder. I think of stopping every time I drive past. It's even visible on google maps. Just south of Buffalo Thunder, look for the trailer yard on west side of highway and access road on some road called DLP.

Don't forget So Cal Teardrops

They manufacture the body of the trailer that is sold by Adventure Trailers.

For those of us near San Francisco there is also TreeLine Teardrops that sells the same products as SoCal.

I have a trailer on order to be custom built with TreeLine and would be able to post photos in a few months when it is ready.

I ordered an 7X14 enclosed V-nose cargo trailer with a side door. I had them insulate the walls and add vents in the V part (I enclosed V to make a small bathroom) and had roof vent added. Used a Futon as a couch/bed. Put in a mini fridge, small air/heat until from Lowes, folding table and ran electrical myself. Trailer cost $3000 brand new. Had about $4000 all together and by keeping it simple it came in around 1700 lbs with all the added furniture and about 1950 fully geared.

I've seen some really luxurious yet simple and basic home-built camp rigs that fit well with Jeeps.

Creativity and 'just do it' makes amazing results.

Keep an eye on Craig's list--I found a little home made 4x6 that works well. 500 bucks. I'll post pics tomorrow evening.

I ordered a enclosed 7X14 insulated Cargo trailer with side door and made my own camper out of it so to keep it light.

Here are some pics of my basic little trailer. Got it off Craig's List for 500 bucks. Makes a good utility trailer and could be used for a bug out if necessary.

This one's the proof-of-concept prototype for a fiberglass trailer tub kit that will hopefully will be on the market sometime this summer.

I'm hearing an entry-level tub kit might be in the $750 ballpark. This one's sitting on a $300 Harbor Freight frame BTW, although more expensive welded frames would also be an option.

Yes, it is very light, here's the tub being carried before the floor is installed (and it'll never rust ):

But it's plenty strong, 225-lb. gorilla standing on the tailgate:

Same gorilla sitting on the fender:

Great looking little trailer. I'll have to keep my eye out for it. Let us know when you put them out on the market.

Thanks. I'm not the one who would be marketing these, but I can try to keep people informed if they get to market.

That looks like the Dinoot kit. Their facebook feed has been going on about a mil-look build up. If I can't swing the Manley due to funding, building up a kit trunk is a good option.

I'm excited about this but I'd really look to see one that is size-wise comparable to an M101A1.

I need the capability for loading two motorcycles and I don't believe the dimensions for this model are large enough for me...

Spending 6K on a Bantam that will haul my cooler and a few extras is ridiculous. I spoke with the Ruger trailer guy and he seems to be a great guy with a decent price on them. The fiberglass option and price sounds like a good option. Subscribed.
