Cats on my soft top!

In the parking lot where I work there are a ton of stray cats and I always think "oh no I hope they don't get on my jeep"! And guess what I see tonight?? A kitty sitting right on my soft top, I politely asked it go get off and he slowly walked to the edge and jumped. No scratches apparent but ahhh! Anyone else encounter this problem? I already try to avoid our lot because it's small and I'm afraid someone will hit me.

I have had that problem before in the past with my 2011 Toyota Tacoma. I got me a fake snake that looked real and placed it on the hood. I never saw another cat on the hood again. Give it a try.

I have this fear myself. Theres lots of outside cats in my neighborhood and especially when I have the doors off, but even if just the top - I'm scared they're gonna hop in my Jeep at night and....relieve themselves. I know they get on it at least...I've seen kitty paw prints on the hood and top before. I will be pretty pissed off it I get in my Jeep one morning and theres a cat turd or it smells like cat pee in there.

If you want to keep cats off. Keep your jeep waxed. I had this problem with cats. Now every time it is washed I hit it with turtle Wax Ice spray on wax. On the hood, fenders, windshield, all over. Cats cannot get a grip when they jump on the Jeep. They slide right off. After a couple of tries they never come back. Another thing, if you see a cat on your Jeep do not scare it. It will dig it's claws in to get traction to bolt. Soft tops and claws!

I'm owned by 5 cats and two of them love to sleep in or on the Jeep, LOL! No damage except for paw prints everywhere and fur inside (the dog leaves more fur and she spends less time in the Jeep). Just don't startle them, that's when the claws come out. :-D
YMMV, and invariably will...

I had that problem at my prior house. I bought a live trap. Animal control will come empty a trap if you trap strays. I caught 12 cats in 12 days. My wife would call animal control and they would say " I remember you, you have a nice trap." Basically, they best way to solve the problem is to get rid if the strays.

No. They use the lower parts of the Jeep to get to the soft top. Bumpers to hood. Fenders to hood ect. Take these points of access away and they cannot get to the soft top.

Tabasco sauce sprinkled on the top will drive them away.

Proximity sensor will keep them off too. Mine chirps a warning first, and cats have set it off before. I see them fleeing the scene and they usually don't return.

Aspirin in milk. Makes them sick. They may stay away then.

Watch out for this one. If you see him, maybe just slowly hand him the keys and go find him some tuna or catnip.

In all seriousness.. I think it's Oregano my wife sprinkles in the garden to keep the cats out.. but google is your friend.

Cats are very curious so a mouse trap should keep a cat from coming back once slapped with one.

My cat sleeps on my softtop EVERY day. Other than paw prints as he comes down the windshield, I can see NO problems that he makes. Scare them, and the claws will come out. Just ignore them and they'll get off as you approach.

Spray some vinegar on the soft top...Cats hate vinegar.

Thanks for the tips but I don't want to hurt the cats, its not their fault for being stray. I'll try some of the humane options.

I saw another tonight, this real scraggly mean one who wouldn't get off until I stepped on the rock slider and looked him in the eye. Then at the same time another cat was running up a tree behind me screeching furiously. I thought I was about to get jumped by a cat.

Get a Red Rider BB gun, not enough power to penetrate them but enough to make it sting and change their behavior.......

I'm pretty sure I'd get fired if I brought a bb gun to work and shot stray cats in the parking lot. Plus a bb gun can penetrate a small animal and hurt them badly if you get too close. (do a quick google search and legal cases pop up from people killing neighbor's cats with their bb guns.) Like I said I'll try the human approaches.

Try this stuff, it works for me with my cats to keep them from eating certain plants. They have it at home depot.

In this case a .22LR should be perfect! It should have no problem penetrating the cat and if placed right would be a perfect and humane one shot kill. Plus its not a bb gun which you said could get you fired. Just watch out for your soft top.

No need to be an asshole. I work at a mental health residential facility where weapons are banned. Aside from that I can't imagine any employer would be ok with you shooting cats in their parking lot weather it is with a real gun or not.

I don't think I'm being a whiny bitch for being disgusted by animal abuse even if it's meant as a joke, please respect that.

I understand the parling lot at work scenerio although a red rider would not penetrate a cat or other small animal, some high powered bb guns could but not that one, especially the way they are made today with much lower velocity, since the lawyers got their hands into the engineering departments.

Feral cats are a problem and need to be eliminated or they will keep breeding and become a bigger problem than they already are, personally i see nothing wrong with ethically eliminating them. The key word is ethically...
