CHA-CHING, in an Unlimited 4WD for 21K! Now I need help spending what i saved!

Well, i got the jeep i wanted, for 21K, even steven, still amazed how i got them to knock off 5K from the sticker! Now i gotta spend the money i saved on getting the perfect ride, so here goes...and thanks in advance!

Rear Ratio, do i change to a 4:10 or go to 4:56, i want 35's or 36's? What do i need to buy and where is the best place to buy? Is it a do it your self project, or pay for labor?

Lift: 4 inch or 5 inch, I see the thread on the Lift reviews, but any recommendations would be great!

Wheels: do you spend the money on 20's, which means you spend more on the tires because of the wheel size, or you just get 17's or 18's and get better tires? Jeep is Fire Red, looking for rims that have black with some red accents..any ideas or pictures?

Tires: I have read the threads, but what looks bad ass, isnt crazy expensive and rides the road well?

Bumpers: what do you guys recommend

Doors: Half doors ($1000.00) or bar doors?

Muffler: not looking for any gains or improved MPG, but something that sounds mean!

Anything else you can add...im sure there will be more questions!

Thanks again for your help!

First things first. Is your Jeep under warranty?

for the wheels, i'd spend the money on tires. Cragar soft 8's come in 17's i know, not sure about the 18's, they also make them black with a red ring. that would look great on your jeep. they'll run you on the better side of $80 a rim for 17's. and yes and 35" tire on a 20 will be more expensive then one on a 17

Okay, I just went back and found that you bought a 10 JK. Be careful that you don't void your warranty with the mods. I've been waiting 3 years to start making modifications to mine for that very reason.

I'm with JD on this. Mine is 1-3/4 years and 30K miles. I've been holding back and letting the payments wear in. Regarding the warranty, it only gets voided on things that you cause by doing the modification. For instance a case can be made that putting 35s and 3" lift could cause problems with the universals and drive shaft(s). Regearing could cause issues with the differentials axles...etc. So if you make modifications these things should be considered. Some folks just mod away and purchase parts as they fall off. I wish I had the bucks to do that. Anyway, you get the idea.

Something you may consider is looking at the cost of the size of tire that you want on 16 inch rims to see what the whole ball of wax will cost compared to the same size tire on 17 inch rims. You'll probably find a substantial savings. Also, consider what back spacing you will want on the new rims. Just a few thoughts.

If you want 35's all you really need is a 3" lift. Going with 17" wheels would be cheaper than going with 20".

Bumpers are more of preference...some like midwidth and some stubbies.I prefer the stubbies for the kind of wheeling i do.

Muffler...i went with the Flowmaster super40.Sound nice with the doors on but annoying if im running doorless.

Oh yeah congrats on your new Jeep. Now where are the pics???!!!

Gears, lift, wheels/tires, half doors, SpiderWeb top. That'll pretty much spend your wad.. Gears should be done professionally, there's lots of technical reasons for that, that I just plain don't want to understand. But if Jerry Bransford has his done professionally and recommends it, well, that's all I need to hear. Congratulations on such a great deal... Don't forget to wave!

for all you out there that want a wave...hehehe

Wanna do what i posted i guess...found some screaming awesome KMC Venom wheels...nice!

Where do i buy the gear ratio...? and I guess its the 4:56 from what ive been reading

Agree with smaller rims, betta tires.

Muffler...hmm if it drives you crazy without the top on, and thats all Im driving...is it too much?

Is a 4.5 lift good, or not?

thanks, ive been part of lots of different forums for different things, this is by far the friendliest and most helpful! Word!

This is pretty much the standard advice and I would agree with it. If you join a wheeling group and go out on a few runs on some easy trails, you will begin to understand the physics and your list of modifications will become more clear. If this isn't your first build and already have a lot of experience on the trail then mod away.

I would go right for the 20's,,,,, maybe 22's !!!!!!!!! If you really wanna get nuttzzz.

Then Chrome that puppy out !!!!! More chrome the better!

Just be sure to get the spare 20"-22" rim thou. Makes the whole Jeep come together!
