I was pricing some JW Speaker 279 tail lights and found these very cheap on Amazon. These are half the price as some retailers are selling them for.
I just checked the link below and it now shows the price of: $256. I searched Amazon again and found the price for $129 which includes shipping. I ordered from the $129 link. Not sure why the copied link below went to the another link with a larger price.
Go for it. I have JWS tail lights and if I wouldn't buy them again for the price I got them for (20% off from N4x4). People have fitment issues, housing cracks, and I have plastic crack issues that they wouldn't warrant. I wouldn't buy authentic JWS tail lights again.
I am skeptical about this. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. If I can return them, I'll give them a shot. If they don't have a proper return policy, not chance I'm going to risk buying some knockoffs. Amazon seems to have consumers covered with their A to Z guarantee but that's for the purchasing portion, not quality or returns.
@hockeyman474... early adopters had the infamous "gap" issues ... jdinny and another member had the housing cracked, another had condensation issues... Although mine has none of that, I do have a phantom crack on the clear lens.
The seller advertising these seems to have a store filled with IMO is overseas cheap crap. Also selling from CA which I know a lot of Chinese knockoffs land there. I won't pull the trigger until they respond to my question about return policy, until then these are suspicious to me.
I bought these from the same seller last week, but at a higher price. I will be buying again and returning my old pair.
But how can you tell if they are fake? Mine look great and would never have suspected that they may be fake. Of course they are marked JW Speaker and have the DOT markings. Anything else to look for?
Take a bunch of pictures inside and out and post them up here. I bet the forum could help decipher if they are real or not.
I have never held them but it looks like from JW Speaker's site, they have a textured appearance, a raised JW Speaker writing above and below the LEDs and look like this with all specific writing on there:
Judging by the post about JW Speaker fake headlights, I'd have to imagine a fake would have sloppy wiring, uneven surfaces, misspellings on the works on the back and likely black stickers where the yellow ones are. These are all just guesses.
FYI I asked about their return policy for a refund and got this in return, which doesn't answer my question:
Hello,
90 days warranty policy, but there are some other items they have a 2 year warranty, would you please let us know the item you need.
* Items can be exchanged or replaced the same item under our warranty period.
* Buyers are only responsible to pay the return shipping fee and we will cover exchange shipping fee and handling fee.
Sooo not sure how I could have been more clear about my question but the answer sort looks like they are dancing around it. I sent a follow-up and will post when I have more info.
If purchased on Amazon, you have 30 days to ship it back. Also, if the item is defective or doesn't meet your standards, you don't need to pay shipping. It's a very easy process you can do online and takes about 1 min to print out a label.
I bought my JWS taillights for $279, the housing was a bit small (didnt cover the mounting "bumps" fully), but nothing too bad. Havent had any issues to date.
@hockeyman474 ... you got a great deal! I would've purchased it too if I didn't have my JWS tail lights. my slight crack on the lens doesn't bother me as much as other people, but knowing what I know now... I wouldn't spend more than 200 on tail lights.
If anyone has a gap issue, you may want to try re-adjusting the light. I thought I had the gap issue even after multiple attempts to install them. I almost threw them back in the box but finally it slid in just right.
I bought at $129 within a few minutes apart from hockeyman.
We will see if a) they honor the price and b) if they are original.
Worst case I send them back.
