cheap exhaust

I spent $70 and got rid of the restrictive factory muffler. I used a Walker round bullet muffler (WLK-24215) 12" muffler with 2 lap joint stainless steel clamps (WLK-33226). I noticed a good difference afterwards, nice sound but not obnoxious, not really that loud. It sounds pretty good and increased my mileage from 15 - 16 to 16 - 18. Just passing on some info.

did it myself

I put the the Dynomax muffler along the exhaust pipe where I wanted it and marked where it would go. I cut on those marks so the exhaust pipe would go inside the muffler ends about 1" to 2". about behind the driver side door I cut using my Milwaukee cut off wheel. I used the stainless steel lap joint muffler clamps to hold it all together. I have a welder but this was actually easier. When I took the OE muffler off I cut it open with my plasma cutter and that muffler is very restrictive and holds carbon build up. I also looked at other aftermarket catbacks and I was not feelin' the $300 price tag. Great sound and cheap. I will post pics and sounds once it quits rainin', I would melt in the rain. I still have to remove the heatsheild from where the old muffler was. With the new muffler, it is so free flowing there is really no heat build up as compared to the OE muffler, no heat sheild. It is not OE pretty but it looks ok and it is a Jeep not a Bently. This mod also added a little more pep, for $80 bones I couldn't beat it. The difference between no muffler and the muffler I installed was nominal, sounded almost identical. The dual catalytic converters do a good of already muffling the sound.

Nice job, post up some pics and maybe a video.

I seen that the pipes run on the drivers side,, but the tip exits on the passenger?

Wouldnt it be better if it exit straight on the drivers side?

When I removed the factory muffler that is where the exhaust ends, driver side, just after the axle. That does eliminate bends and the factory muffler is restrictive.

To see if you would like it, undo the clamp at the muffler and rotate the muffler out of the way, then start it up and see if the sound works. If it doesn't all you have lost is 30+ minutes and just rotate the muffler back up and reclamp it. I like the sound and the engine is a little more responsive but I didn't spend 300bones +. I have attached the link where I got the idea from.
