Cheap front skid using server rack parts

We disposed of some mil spec grade computer hardware racks a few years back. I took one of the large steel perforated screens off one. I've cut portions off of it over the years for projects.

I didn't like my plastic air dam so I fashioned a front skid that goes from the crash to the bumper. It won't stop a big impact but it will stop sticks and smaller items from wedging up into my radiator between the bumper and crash bar. It's a lot stiffer than you'd imagine. I had to do the final shaping with a 2 pound sledge.

Nothing like recycling. The rack metal is strong. Any rust issues?

That would make a nice grill insert.

It's been on about a little over a month now. It's been through some mudding and a couple weeks of heavy rains. No rust yet but I imagine it will need some touch up over time. It was powdercoated to begin with and I sprayed it with flat black rustoleum after I beat it into shape with the sledge.

Yeah I've got enough left to put behind the grill but I'd guess that it only passes about 50% of the flow so I'm concerned that it would make me run hot. I've taken the temp gauge well beyond the halfway point wheeling in mountainous areas of NC without a grille insert so I don't want to push my luck.
