My sound bar sounded hollow too, and since the Jeep is new, I just took it in to the dealership (No cost to me) and they put foam blocks of something in/around, and now it sounds great.

Newbee seeks your help

Hi Guys, I am a new bee both with a first time Jeep Wrangler 2-door 2013 - Sport trim. So everything on the JK is stock. And here on the forum.
I live in Suriname, South America, next to French Guyana and Brazil.
We don't have any Jeep dealers nor can you buy here anything like wheels, tires, etc.
So I am depending on your advice. First purchases I want to do in Florida are 16" or 17" wheels. Tires 33" x 12.5".
First question: Which brands-model will fit the JK 2013 without any lift? If I need to lift it, what specs?

Thanks guys, HenriSu

tires with no lift

Henrisu, I bought the rugged ridge 17" wheels and 33"x12.50" mickey thompsons and mounted them with out any lift. My Wrangler was a bone stock sport like yours. I have no issues with rubbing.

They do stick out passed the fenders about 2 to 3 inches. The back spacing is 4.5" on the wheels

Question cheap?

For a cheap mode thread these 18 pages have cost me hundreds!
in the mail from quad or amazon:
Floor mats
Grab handles
Rubberized antenna
Fuel door cover
Remote starter
Pillow filling

Still considering the snap in grill mod..
Not sure about drilling mirror hole on 13 jku.
Still considering stock cd player replacement.
Going to make a dolly for hard top. does anyone keep these outside? Our garage is already tight.

I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for all necessary tools to keep in the car? Starting with 40 torx for removing hardtop?

Fyi, my first jeep, ive had it for 3 days! so glad I stumbled on this thread.

Hello all, has anyone tried making the paracord grab handles?
I've seen a ton of different ways to do them online and I'm wondering just how difficult is it to make them?

Drill the hole. I did it about 3 days after a rain storm and there was still a good bit of water in there.

For the guys drilling holes in your mirrors at the bottom of the circle part thats mounted flat to the door. Are you guys taking the mirrors off to drill the hole? Is there any space behind it so i dont hit my doors paint and scratch it when the drill breaks theough? Thanks!

Ok, so I wanted to add fishing rod holders to my front bumber but as I plan to replace the bumper with a narrow width in the relative short future, I did not want to spend very much.

I went to a local tackle shop and purchased for $14 dollars, a Berkley Rod Holder. It is made out of plastic and the 4 mounting holes line up perfectly with the holes in a license plate. Being from NJ, I need front and rear plates so I went out to Lowe's and purchased 4, 3.5 inch long stainless steel lag screws and mounted the rod holder between the license plate and the factory bumper. I tried out my fresh and salt water rods and they fit well. I still have about 12 inches on clearance between the bottom of the ron handle and the ground.

Berkley® Tube Rod Rack | Berkley®

For cheap Mod #2, I purchased 2.5 yards of Phifertex Vinyl-encapsulated Polyester Woven Mesh from Seattle Fabrics. It is an outdoor rated shade material. I am going to make my own (hopefully) shade cloth cover for my 4dr. I purchased grommets and bungy cables for mounting.

Cost so far is $33.75 for the material, $6.00 for the grommet kit, and $8.00 for the bungies.

I will post pictures of this when it is done.

I didn't take the mirrors off. I drilled at the bottom of the circular part near the door. Looking at the flat/circular disk part of the mirror where it's flat against the door, I went in at a slight angle. I used a small bit wrapped with tape only leaving about 1/4" of the bit showing. Went right through, water came out...I was happy.

Drilled the mirrors on my '14 JKUR. No water. Did they solve the problem? It's been raining quite a bit here in Myrtle Beach.

That looks good. Good idea. Hopefully you won't get any grief from the police since third brake lights are supposed to be higher than your taillights. At least in MA when I lived there. The whole idea of third brake lights, as I understand it, was so people behind you in stop and go traffic could see you were braking. In Boston, during rush hour, people are so tight on your bumper they couldn't see your tail lights. Third brake lights solved the problem.

Edit: Actually it's a federal law. Just looked it up.

Really - I was just being nice. I love that blue and in this case, the 2 door also. Some of the colors seem to just look more 'right' in the 2 door. Really - just a pretty Wrangler.

A couple of quick, cheap mods for me:

Steering wheel cover and Daystar dashboard tray

Name: Steering Wheel.jpg
Views: 2316
Size: 24.7 KB

Home-made wood shift knobs

Name: Gear Shift Knobs.jpg
Views: 2270
Size: 23.8 KB

I've also installed the Drake fuel door and "bobbed" my front bumper with the Rough Country bumper caps.

And because of suggestions in this thread, I removed the "Jeep" lettering from the front and drilled holes for water to drain from the mirrors. I didn't like the rear-view mirror flip, because I was only seeing about 20 feet behind me. (I must be too short for that mod to work.)

Did the grille inserts mentioned in this thread yesterday and I love them
One tip that I have that I'm not sure if it was mentioned on this or the other threads about the grille inserts, the 1"x1" zip tie holders are just a hair too big to go in between the grill slats on a JK (not sure if it is different on other models)
If you trim them down on one side a little they will fit fine
This cost me about $20 since I bought spray paint to paint mine purple
The plastic gutter guard material worked great
