I just touched up the paint on the loops on the inside of the windshield frame that the header latches from soft top hook around (and the freedom panel latches press against), since some careless idiot chipped the paint on them before I bought the Jeep.

The mod is that I put a layer of gorilla tape inside the header latch (hook) on my soft top in hopes of dampening the hook and preventing the issue from occurring again.

I think you would hate my Jeep, Hardrock. Those latches are scratched to hell from use, and I have numerous scratches on the exterior of the Jeep also. Prior to owning my Jeep I owned a pristine Nissan Frontier Pro4x, black, that I purchased brand new. It was so shiny and perfect I never enjoyed taking it off road. Traded it in on the used Jeep and was instantly happier that I didn't have to worry about perfect paint.

Got my Jeep a couple weeks ago and immediately made some purchases for little mods such as a new gas cover, grill inserts, and stickers and decals. Then I found this thread and have since read the entire thing. Definitely utilized a few things (turned rearview upside down, Plastidipped logo and antenna, stuffed speakers with polyfill, made grab handles, etc.). All awesome stuff. I also did a few other things that probably aren't that useful for most people, but I figured I'd post anyways.

First, some pictures of my grab handles because I'm excited that they actually turned out decently. I liked the look of the paracord handles but they seemed ridiculously expensive. $25 worth of supplies and I had more than enough to make what I needed. I went with olive and gray to go with my Tank Jeep with gray interior.

Then I saw a post that someone had made something to hold their hockey sticks and I decided that I should use some of the extra paracord for that. Here's what I ended up with.

The last thing was a problem I needed to solve. I live in S. Florida so sunglasses are a daily requirement. I'm a bit of a sunglass junkie though so have more pairs than anyone needs. In my old Xterra there was a tray at the bottom of the front dash panel, so I just cut a piece of shelf-mat rubber to fit so they wouldn't slide around and called it a day. I didn't want to put them in the Jeep's tray because it's smaller and on top, so it looked messy. I went to JoAnn and spent about $5 on velcro, elastic, and felt, and this is what I came up with. It holds at least 8 pairs of glasses and the felt protects both the glasses and the hardtop from scratching each other.

Automotive exterior Roof rack Bumper Car Vehicle

Made these out of Brazilian Iron wood, also know as "ipe" it is so dense it won't float and has almost the same tensile strength as steel but looks nicer on your roof. I did this do I could utilize my entire roof. I can walk on it now and I'm 6' and 205 lbs we also incorporated some stainless steel hardware so I can mount the roof basket on it, will send updated pics when I get the basket out of the paint booth and attached.

That's really interesting. How are they attached to the roof?

Took me longer to do than Id like to admit for such a silly little thing, but I added two small amber LEDs to my DRL circuit. Got them off amazon ($7 for four, I used two), made mounts from steel angle brackets from lowes (actually I found them in my basement ) which I drilled , cut and painted.

Back to Black

Hey everyone just wanted to give a heads up. I used Mother's Back to Black on my stock bumpers and it worked absolutely fantastic! they looked brand new. I then tried it on my hard top. It is the fiber glass roof that doesnt have the metal paint on it. Anyway i used the back to black on the roof. Looks fantastic. then it rained. Horrible the wax in the product ran down the roof and it turned out to be half grey and half black. Just a heads up!! It was a pain in the ass getting it all off!

What a great thread! Recently did the muffler mod by prepping it and spraying it with flat black high temp header paint. I also replaced the OEM chrome lugs with black Gorilla "Wheel System" lugs. Every lug is a lock and I really like the look.

I also did another cheap mod today. I plasti dipped the 3 silver key locks and stock silver antenna. They stuck out like a sore thumb on my Granite Crystal Metallic paint. First time to use plasti dip and was a little surprised how much it spatters when it's sprayed. I wish it had a little bit smoother application and finish.

another cheap mod that makes your Jeep standout:

1)go to Walmart and buy a set of 4 plastic tire-caps($2.99)
2) go to your local gun range and grab some 40S&W brass(or any caliber as long as it fits your tire-cap)
3)glue your tire-caps inside the brass using epoxy or Gorilla Glue
4) when they dry, put'em on!

now your tires have 4 shinny golden tire-caps made of spent cartridge, how cool is that!

here Im gonna share my way mounting CB radio-------CB Radio mounting bracket for $1.26

first, you need a metal tie, you can get it from Home Depot for $1.26
https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.6-x-post-base-zmax.1000411694.html

then, you need a plyer, a bolt and a nut, some glue(epoxy works the best)

since I already mounted mine and don't want to take it apart, so I draw a diagram to show the steps... just remember when you ply the bottom of that metal tie, try to grip it as hard as you can, the harder you grip, the tighter it mounts on your jeep.

theres a big plastic piece that houses the entire centre console, I dont know how to call it, centre console housing maybe?

anyway, in the picture where the red arrow pointing, theres a gap between the carpet and the flimsy plastic side wall of that "centre console housing", pretty self-explanatory,
shove one end of that "V" shape bracket into the side wall, shove it all the way until the bottom of the "V" bites into the side wall(see? the harder you ply, the tighter it bites).

and there you have it, a CB Radio mount for less than $2.

of course, wiring is another story, my way doing it was the power cable went thru underneath glovebox and thru windshield bracket and connected directly to the battery.

antenna mounted on spare tire carrier, using 18' coax thru tailgate, underneath trunk carpet, thru underneath rear seat, thru underneath front passenger seat and connected to the CB Radio unit. If coax is too long, turn a couple rounds on the chair-leg of front passenger seat to shorten it.
