Hey guys. First post here, although I have been spending a lot of time on this forum learning stuff. Anyway, I was looking at Truklites on Amazon today and come across these:

http://www.amazon.com/iJDMTOY-Black...26580&sr=8-2&keywords=ijdmtoy+black+bezel+40W

They look like JW Speakers, but at about half the cost. Supposedly they are DOT approved? Has anybody tried these? They seem kinda sketch, but mainly because I can't find any info on them.

Thanks.

I did a little more research and found this write up comparing the Chinese knockoffs and the real Speakers:

The difference between Real JW Speaker LED Lights and fakes! | Better Automotive Lighting Blog

Obviously, the originals that are twice as much are better. The knockoffs look better than the factory lights though. My only concern is that there is no DOT stamp on the knockoffs and even if the likelihood of being pulled over with the knockoffs is probably slim, I know I will constantly be thinking about it. Anyway, I'm going with the Truck Lights.

I'll never buy knock offs since I had my fair share of regrets. Purchased knockoff projector headlights for a previous vehicle, same with tail lights... aesthetically similar, but very frail to the expensive counterparts. The most noticeable moments were after a storm. They were all fogged up and completely toasted.

I purchased the JW Speaker EVO 2 after waiting/waiting/saving up money. I was at a Jeep Rally in Monson, Mass earlier this month and saw I pair of the knockoffs. I literally was like "oh, they have JW's just like mine.. oh wait.. huh?" - yeah, you can tell. The "squirrel spotters" are super white plastic and the trim looked a little cheap. I could tell from 10 feet away (and I'm no jeep expert.) Just an FYI.

I bought what was listed as JW Speaker fog lights and turned out to be the cheap knock-offs. After a long story and reimbursement, I got to keep the lights so I installed them. They were wired backwards and did not fit evenly in the bumper. The light output is surprisingly good. Much better than stock (but what isnt?). I will replace them with real JW Speakers when they crap out..

jeeeeez...

Anytime you buy a cheap asian knockoff you're encouraging them to pirate some other intellectual property.
Sure they look like the real thing. Sure they might work okay (for a while).
But they're a rip-off of somebody's real work. An American's real work.

Makes my skin crawl...

I completely agree there are many options when it comes to Light but I refuse to spend $800 on non serviceable headlights that's just ridiculous I picked up a set of these and to be honest they look fantastic if they function as good as they look money well spent will see.

And yes I could see maybe $400 for the JW speakers but not double that. They are way over priced for what they are.
I bought the Evo 2s and loved them. Amazing headlights, but I was in them for almost $750 once I had the harness. Ended up selling them and getting the Quadratec Qs and am very happy with them. Are they as good as the Speakers? No...but they do a damn good job for half the cost.

For just a little bit more you can get Truck-Lites which are not knock-offs of anybody and work superbly.

$359.87 shipped
Amazon.com: Truck-Lite (27270C) Headlamp: Automotive

For even less, you can get Hella H4 housings and direct to battery relay for performance which is still way better than stock and superior construction to the chinese knock-offs.
SM6024J Headlamp Kit for Jeep Wrangler 2007->. Replaces H13 lamp with Hella E-Code H4 Headlamps | Rally Lights

Both would be a better route than the knocks.
I agree.

Trucklite, Peterson, even the Q-tec.
Cibie, Koito, Hella H4.

If you can't afford a Porche it doesn't mean you get a Chinese Powrshe. You get a Mustang and be proud of it...

Anyone know of a good led headlight with halos or ones that you can install halos into ?
Try Vision X Vortex 7" LED headlight. They are DOT certified.
I don't know how good they are though.
