Check Engine Light 2012 JK - Again

Ok so my check engine light came on tonight. It has already had one of the cylinder head's replaced about six months ago. I checked the gas cap and it is solid on there. Taking it into the dealership tomorrow. BTW it has 18,800 miles on it.

I know that there is a procedure to check what code it is by turning the ignition on but not starting the vehicle three times in a row. I tried it and can't seem to make it work. Just want to have an idea of what it is before I take it in tomorrow.

I searched the forum for the sequence but couldn't find it. Please help.

Peace and happy jeepn!

I just ran out to make sure I had it right before writing this... Here you go:

Insert key into the ignition and turn to the "ON" position.

Wait until all the warning lights and chimes turn off.

Pressing the key in toward the cylinder, turn the key to the "LOCK" position and back to the "ON" position quickly 3 times in a row. You should end with the key in the "ON" position.

Your odometer will show --------- and if you have a code, it should display after a couple of seconds... If there is no code ---done--- will be displayed.

Good luck.

Thanks a bunch for that wcbardwell. It came out to be "P06dd." Not sure what that is but I'm gonna look elsewhere on the forum now. Thanks again.

Blastek...I really hope not. I hated not having my jeep.

You're welcome.

Unless I'm mistaken by my quick google search, that is a low oil pressure code.

Thanks man you rock. Really appreciate your quick help. That is what I got too, but I looked through the forum. Seems like one of our brothers is having the same issue. Peace.

So went to the dealership and the diagnostic was the Oil Pressure sensor was having trouble communicating. The ordered the part and sent me on my way. Then the day after woke up and started the jeep and no check engine light! Praise God! Will be postponing the repair till if/when it comes on again.

Peace.

I'm not coordinated enough to do this.

lol... It's not so bad... Just turn two clicks, wait, back-front-back-front-back-front... It should show where the odometer is if you have a code... If not, it'll just show the word "done"
